hi! I'm currently reading Rizal's letters to Blumentritt for my PI 100 class. As for my own judgement, Rizal is not gay. People just sensationalized their relationship just to have something new to say about Rizal. the letters were passionate yes, but this passion is about friendship and brotherhood. Rizal considered Blumentritt as his soulmate, a brother, father, teacher and a friend. He was a confidant. Rizal expressed his thoughts to Blumentritt without inhibition. Rizal wrote Blumentritt about his thoughts on revolution, religion, his book Noli and Fili etc. Rizal also told Blumentritt about Leonore Rivera, about how he was saddened by her marriage to an Englishman. They both knew each other very much...they have established a certain kind of closeness...due to the fact that each shares his thoughts to the other..

If you want to read Rizal and Blumentritt's letter..there is a book, a collection of 200 letters of their correspondence. the title is "Pagsusulatan nina Rizal at Blumentritt"( i think theres also an english veersion). it's old but i think theres still a copy in your school's library. (I found this one in ours). Or in the National Library. It's a more complete collection than those in the internet...
