One wonders why Enterprise hasn't been as successful as it could be?

It isn't hard to figure when you begin a new show with someone who has star in a hit show before. In this case Scotty B.

He's suppose to be an explorer of new worlds, an ambassor of earth bringing the best of what earth has to offer.

Unfortunately what he brings is an angry middle age man who respects only his own morals and values. He's angry at the vulcans because they held back his father's work.

How does he know this? His father, as we have found out, died when he was 12, of a crippling desease. He's now over 50.

He doesn't listen to anyone, it's all about him and his needs. T'Pol has counseled him numerous times, but he ignores her.

When he does something it's okay, but when Trip tried to do the same, he castrates him, tells him he failed to teach Trip between right and wrong according to Archer.

After three years he still hasn't got it. That other people have their own morals and values, and they don't need him to tell them theirs are wrong.

How many times has Daniels advised him to do things in a certain way. He disregards them and everyone else suffers.

The Xindi weapon would have been distroyed if he let Travis fly the insectoid ship. But instead they lost valuable time, destroyed an outpost, just so he could be the hero.

He got captured, the Enterprise was nearly distroyed, leading him to steal a warp core from another people. Why?

Because he needs to be the hero. In the end he ended up doing as Daniels told him. He would have saved a lot of heart ache if only he listen.

In the past Star Trek shows like to impart a message in their stories.

This show only imparts Managements doesn't listen to it's employees. That it will do whatever it wants and to hell with the consequences. In todays world that isn't what we need.
