Subject: Enterprise Theme Song

What do people think of the Enterprise Theme Song? From day one I was horrified at how inappropriate it felt. I love the images of the intro, but I still wince in pain whenever I can't get to the mute button fast enough. Great show, but tell me where the petition to replace that song is and I'm one John Hancocking mofo.

I like the show very much, it's just the hokey song that turns me off. My wife and I are both big Trekers, and when we that song first came on we both turned to eachother with a 'what the hell is THIS suppose to be' look? I guess we just wanted the tradition of good Classical music intros to keep going. The song in itself isn't bad, it's just not Star Trek material. It belongs on some Oprah Winfrey special or something.

So why not go with a whole new look and feel for the intro? I absolutely adore the opening credits and have from Day One. I love the song, and I love the pictures that go with it. It's an awesome way to open the show - give us the history of space travel and a song that gets to the heart of Enterprise. Sorry, but I ADORE the theme song. It gets me in the heart every time I hear it. Maybe because I've always been fascinated by explorers. I think it describes beautifully the spirit behind the series, and the historical advancements really anchor the show in "reality." I downloaded an MPG of the song, I love it so much.

I know it's different from other Trek theme songs. But most of those are interchangeable (except perhaps the first.) This is different. And good.

My problem with the song is that it is a ballad. It's reflective, almost whistful - the tone is appropriate to looking back and not forward. And isn't loking forward what Enterprise is all about?

At first, I loved that theme song. Now I can't stand it! Need something more like "Doctor Who", where there are no words. No-one ever gets tired of "Doctor Who" themes!
