Subject: Hey! They stole my idea for "kinder, gentler" Vulcans!

I came up with this theory that the Vulcans shipped off this bunch of non-comformist types(artisits, musicans, etc)to parts unknown and now have this "dirty" little secret that they don't want to come out. Their planet was made up of happy, laid-back artisitic types. The Vulcan are sooo embarassed by them, they pretend they don't exist. they were called "Quartellians" or something like that. Good, old "Startrekken", my old fan club!
Can I sue for idea infringement? Or is there a thought police for this?
Actually, there are no new ideas, just recyclyed ones!

[> I say sue! LOL! I relaly liked Trip's interaction with the chubby Vulcan and the thing about that guy's father. The T'Pol stuff was interesting too. And it showed that one needn't be shown blood & guts to depict "violence" ---- T'Pol was raped, plain & simple. It was a disturbing scene. But very well-done. -- MichelleB, 15:05:03 03/03/02 Sun

[> That really was a disturbing scene- It was a mental rape & his heavy breathing was very disturbing. I wasn't sure I liked their view of "feeling" Vulcans-Are they really such "animals" that they need to repress all emoition. Or are they a little like us, some need a "control" on their emoitions & some can do it naturally. Which is why I'm glad they showed 2 types of Vulcans, the engineer(who had a grip, but was "human") and the rapist, who was out to get his jollies, no matter who he hurt or what. -- Frances, 06:40:09 03/04/02 Mon

[> Also, Why didn't Archer arrested & try whatshis name? I hope he warned his crew members-so he will never be able to do it again. It was doubly cruel-he hit her trust factor and shut down her research into the emoitions. Bad, Nasty boy-needs a lobotomy. -- Frances(I ran over), 06:48:18 03/04/02 Mon

[> There are new ideas, but Star Trek is rather limited... -- PF, 00:27:10 05/05/02 Sun

I like Star Trek, and also like "Doctor Who". When Star Trek the next generation came out, many of the story ideas were borrowed from Doctor Who. As an example, The Borg were first introduced in "Doctor Who" back in the 1960’s and were called the Cyberman. The concept of the Holography Deck was borrowed from Ray Bradbury, in his story called the Velt, or something like that, can’t remember the spelling. After reading it, it was shown on the Ray Bradbury Theater years later, and than Star Trek the Next Generation came up with there own version of this. Star Trek is far from creative, but I have to say this, there have been a lot of creative concepts that I’ve enjoyed very much. If you like something heavier that Star Trek, try Ray Bradbury books, and "Doctor Who" Television and of course "Doctor Who" books as well.
