Subject: Yellow Flowers???!!!!

Does no one on this ship read fiction! You never go out on a planet w/o masssive checks! Yellow flowers are da bomb! Read the Darkover series, read most scifi. It all starts with an idiot crew not following protocol & running into a situation that gets out of control. Many red shirts die & several characters you have come to love get ill/die, too!
It's so trite, that it was old when the first ST did it! Are there no rules on this ship on how not to mess up a planet,or even an away trip! What happened to the decon after this visit?
Enough already- I liked it.
No red shirts died(you notice there are NO redshirts! But new crewmembers are always suspect!)
I'm liking T'pol more-just alittle repressed drug reaction!
Trip was Tripping.... They got over their 'psycotic reaction' very swiftly. No hard feelings, embarrassment, whatever to mar the kissypoo atmosphere of ST! If I was T'Pol, I'd be very pissed off right now!Heads would roll!
OK-so I'm a bad Vulcan, but I have pretty hair, do you still hate me?

[> Hee! Yeah, it was a classic Idiot plot--it wouldn't work if any of the characters displayed any hint of intelligence. I'm mad at Archer for risking the life of his doggie! LOL! -- Laura, 10:23:08 10/11/01 Thu

[> [> I **love** the doggie! But let's remember folks that there ARE no protocols! No rule book -- except for the highly cautious Vulcan one that the humans are predisposed to want to toss. They don't trust the Vulcans. They *know* the Vulcans are keeping things from them --- technology, certainly --- but I think they expect that they're keeping OTHER things "secret" too. And the gel thing is, I think, for biological **organisms** --- NOT chemical substances that cuase weird reactions and even death. So, no decontamination.......either that, or they just don't plan on showing it all the time. I like it that they are still figuring out what is prudent and safe and what is TOO cautious and what is stupid. And I **love** the doggie! He is so adorable!!!! Almost as cute as Archer! -- MichelleB, 18:37:54 10/11/01 Thu

[> [> [> There may be no protocols, but there *is* common sense. People get vaccinated for tropical diseases before they go to Africa, for heaven's sake! I would think that the doctor would express concern about visiting an unexplored planet without taking some samples via probe and checking them for little buggies that might be bad for us. Or for Porthos! -- Laura, 09:50:12 10/12/01 Fri

[> Decontamination is for bacteria, viruses, and litlle buggies picked up everywhere. They decontaminated the guys on the moon visit & it's a dead moon! So it should be protocol, maybe time didn't allow for all that gelling of each other ! More screen time for the pooch! -- Frances, 07:47:24 10/12/01 Fri

[> [> I recall from the first ep and the second (I think) that those returning from the away mission WERE scanned -- and only IF "buggies" are found do they have to do the gel thing. So, I think it is safe to assume that they scanned the guy they beamed up and didn't find anything gel-worthy. Or you all have just found the first thing "illogical" aobut Enterprise! LOL! -- MichelleB, 19:16:26 10/12/01 Fri
