Cannot contribute to the discussion on the new series but it does say �and all things Trek�
I really hope our TV channel�s PTB (in South Africa) buy this Star Trek as it sounds really good. I grew up with Captain Kirk so for me that version is still the best. I watched the one with Piccard a short while but was a bit of a let down. Voyager and DS9 I never watched but my daughter did and enjoyed. I never liked Janeway.
So I have to say that, like Lu, Captain Kirk was the best captain but I think that the new one may change my thinking as I like SB much more than WS. I think the original ST just had a wonderful cast and I liked them all, though Spock and the doctor were my favourites, and their interaction was great.
Still have one film on tape for nostalgic days (when they saved the whale population)
