I like the new show this season. They have a good cast of characters. I like the bond that is being created between Trip and T'Pol. Especially in the episode they intercept a letter to her. She shows some annoyance but appreciates having Trip to talk to. I think she like the idea of being expose to new ideas but also likes knowing more then the others. Giving advice on dealing with other species. I think she also likes the idea of expressing her opinions when in command positions but also excepting the captain's orders. But most of all I like it when she was talking to Trip about her wedding plans. About whether or not she should leave the enterprise or stay. Whether or not she should get married. That even though her culture is rich in tradition doesn't mean it is always right. That she has choices and it's up to her to make the choice not someone before her time. I think she really enjoys learning more about a new culture even though she can't stand the smell of humans.

The only thing so far I really don't like is Archer's self righteous moral outlook that his morals are better then others.

[> I agree with much of your take on T'Pol. I, too, really liked the scenes with Trip whre she is asking his opinion on her wedding dilemna. But I kind of disagree aobut Archer being self-righteous. I really hate that characteristic and I haven't really seen it in Archer. I'll be on the lookout for it in the future. Which times did you think he came across that way? I haven't felt he was moralistic either. But perhaps I have been distracted by shower scenes and such! LOL! -- MichelleB, 00:26:41 12/01/01 Sat

[> [> He doesn't do it every episode. But I do remember that last week he was that way. My brother and his little girl were over and we were watching it. It was the one he was dealing with the freighter crew. They had caapture an alien. They had their idea of how to deal with him. Then along came Johnny boy. After he did a good thing helping the crew make their repairs he comes back and tells the 2nd that if he didn't release the alien to him he was going to take back all his parts that he gave the crew. And at the end he goes into another spreel about something. He also has the tendency to blow off T'Pol when she gives him advice about dealing with new cultures. But over all this a good show with some good characters who are coming together pretty good. The first year of a new show is always the hardest as the characters establish themselves. -- talon, 22:24:51 12/01/01 Sat

[> [> [> You are SOOOOOO right about that last thing. I recently watched a few of the early-in-Season-1 TNG eps and some of the characters were just awful compared with how they ended up being written/depicted. I think Enterprise is worth hanging in there with too. -- MichelleB, 17:45:55 12/02/01 Sun

[> [> [> Hi talon! ITA about Archer not taking T'Pol's advice seriously at times...the ep where they find that earth-like planet was a prime example...T'Pol made a good point that they should send down probes and such first before putting people down...but Archer totally overruled her...and in front of everyone else too...it wasn't so much the overruling as the WAY he did it...he didn't even CONSIDER her point for a moment! I can understand how they might find it hard to have to wait a week when such an exciting planet is right under their noses...BUT...Archer didn't even THINK about a compromise...they could sent out some probes to gather information, THEN put people out there...they might have detected the toxin in the pollen this way and saved each other a LOT of grief...but...then again, it wouldn't have made for much of an ep...LOL! -- Canrane -- ok, fine...we want a good ep, right? (well, even though I didn't really like this one much) So Archer COULD have sent out a probe, but it wouldn't have detected the pollen...THEN I would have been ok with what happened in that ep! [> [> [> [> I have a feeling that they have ARchger behave that way to underline his antagonism towards the Vulcans for "holding Earthlings back". I think that he still thinks (and he may be right) that while T'Pol *may* be warming up a teensy tiuny bit to the humans, she still may have her own agenda. Archer doesn't trust her. BUt you're right......being a LITTLE prudent and careful is NOT a bad thing! -- MichelleB, 19:47:17 12/13/01 Thu
