My dear Mr. Rodger Stewart,
It seems there has been a dreadful mistake made here, whilst we are indeed going to disconnect your gas supply and trust you will enjoy immensely the stench of smoldering feces with which you propose to replace British Gas’s fine product. I have to inform you that due to personnel shortages we have not sent anyone to your residence to disconnect the gas meter.
This “Sid Alcock” whom you refer to is obviously not an employee of British Gas, company policy strictly forbids the use of pencils and all document s must be completed in ink. We at British Gas spend a great deal of time training our people in the aspects of safety and the proper use of a biro in filling out all forms. Therefore this “Sid Alcock” that you say you have locked up under the stair must not be one of ours. I suggest you have another look at this gentlemen’s dust-coat, pay particular attention to the unique serial number label sewn into the right sleeve which should match the serial number tattooed on the nape of the neck of a British Gas employee.
If there is anything more we at British Gas can do to assure your satisfaction please let us know, just for the record we only use the 2nd Para Battalion in cases where the bill is at least several months overdue.
