Subject: The Day that wasn't,,,,

Hey Ladies. Thought you might to have a laugh about my (aborted) day out. I'd planned to meet my longest time friend Ruth. We've known each other since we were in our teens. I don't drive, so it takes me two trains to get to the suburb where Ruth lives. The first train only takes a few minutes, but the other one takes nearly an hour. We'd arranged to meet at the destination station at 10am, as I didn't have a time table, and didn't want to have Ruth waiting for me in the cold at the station, I left home at 8am. The first train was no bother, but at the 'changeover' station I waited and waited, trains came for every which way but the one I wanted. Finally after an HOUR of waiting my train arrived and I was so glad to get into the warmth and get a window seat.
So I get to the station where Ruth was to meet me, and no Ruth. It was cold and drizzling rain, I stood and waited, waited, no Ruth. Okay, ring her. No, the pay phone on the station was out of order, and I didn't want to leave the station in case she arrived and found me not there.
So I waited there for an hour, and finally cold and upset I decided I'd just have to take the next train(s) home.
When I got home I rang Ruth. Simple! Ruth was of the understanding that I was going to walk to her place from the station (I wasn't even really sure of the way) and I was of the understanding that she was driving to the station to pick me up!
Well, in the end we had a good laugh, and plan to arrange another time with clearer indications of who is meeting where!

Wow what an experience..I am a very impatient person when it comes to waiting, it wouldn't be so bad in warm "not hot" "not cold" weather. I hope the evening at home was interesting enough to make up for your day.Lol

Hi Ellie & Tina,

Sorry to hear about your meeting that didn't happen. Sometimes we assume things because we are so glad that we will be seeing someone that we do not always clarify important details. At least you kept your sense of humor and had a nice train ride. I too would have waited as I have lots of patience and would worry I would miss her. Too bad the phone was not working.

I can relate to it as meeting a friend at a craft fair we did not connect as I thought she was picking me up and she thought I was going to meet her there.

I had a 3 day stay at the beach in Maine with daughter,son-in-law and Kaityln. We had a wonderful time and Kaitlyn definitely is a "beach lover". We also visited the Animal Kingdom Zoo. They had wagons with belts for young children and Kaitlyn was able to see many different animals. They also had a beautiful indoor exhibit of butterflys. I enjoyed the zoo just as much as Kaitlyn.

My new tenants are moving in the 20th of this month. They are a young couple in their twenties. I am hoping they will be good tenants. Their references were good.

I have had a problem with my right wrist again and am wearing a brace right now. It seems there is always something going on as we grow older.

Wishing both of you a good week. It is raining today but we do need the rain.

Phyllis
