Subject: Update from New England Area And Wishes for the Holidays

Hi Tina, Ellie and other readers (who we miss very much),

I enjoyed reading about your festive activities and you both sound like you are social butterflies. It great that you have such good times.

We received our first real snowstorm yesterday. We had about 3-5 inches of snow but then the weather turned so cold. The temperature here was minus 1 degree. Up north it was really cold. I went out for supper last night(even though the driving was bad.) Michael called me and asked if I wanted to go out to eat. He has 4 wheel drive, so I said yes. The traffic was all backed up and everyone was going very slowly. It was very very cold outside and it was good to come home to a warm house. I had baked haddock with baked stuffed potatoes and salad. The potatoes were so good.

I have been still doing some more Christmas shopping and I meeting one of my former co-workers for lunch today at an Italian restaurant. I decided yesterday to make one of her favorite cookies. It is a recipe that my Mother used to make without a written one. They are cresent shaped and call for a lot of butter and confectionary sugar and are very light and tasty. I like them too, so I plan on giving her most of them so I won't have them around.

Our choir will be singing on Christmas eve and it is a beautiful service. We have a practice tomorrow night.

I will be having Christmas dinner for my family and friends in this area. We are having baked ham, scalloped potatoes, vegetables, salad and bread. Of course we will be having spinach pie too. For dessert, we will have blueberry and apple pie with vanilla ice cream.

I wish everyone a joyous holiday season and good health and happiness in the New Year!

Phyllis
