Subject: Australian friends plan for Xmas..

Hi Tina..Here's your wish granted! Well, at least from one of the Australian friends! I've going tomorrow (Xmas Day) to eldest son Peter's home in Kinglake, which is a beuatiful little 'mountain' town bordering a National park.
Most family members will be there, except the Sydney son, wife and new baby grandson.
We all contribute food and drinks to the Xmas meal.. Australian Xmas's can be really HOT, tho blessedly tomorrow will be cool/mild.. so usually a huge cooked Xmas meal isn't eaten, rather things like cold meat, salads, fruit and icecream and Xmas cake.. we do go for the traditional hot plum pudding tho with custard or cream.
We exchange our gifts from under the Xmas tree on Xmas day, and also on the 26th, as youngest son and wife are with her family on Xmas day, then come to us on the 26th.
Some people picnic on the beach, or have barbeques in parks and gardens.. it's very varied, being our summer, so w're not confined to doing things indoors.. tho I will sayjust for once, I would love to experience a really snowy winter Xmas such as you have in Canada and the states!
Have a lovely day everyone.
Ellie.

How wonderful it all sounds..I would love to spend Christmas outdoors with my family in a picnic setting!
Yes it would certainly make more sense having a cold meal..never thought how hot a kitchen would get roasting and cooking.Thank you so much for giving insight to an Australian Chrismas.
Have the best Christmas ever! God Bless!!

Hi Ellie,

It was great to read about your Christmas celebration. We were lucky that the weather on Christmas day was good and anyone traveling by car had no problem. The day after Christmas turned out to be snowy and slippery and cold. I know that the airlines ran into cancellations and delays and some flights were not rescheduled for 2 days. One airline's computer crashed and they did not have a back up system.

None of my family from a distance were planning to fly to New England so it did not affect us but I felt sorry for those who were traveling.

You might enjoy the snow for one day only on Christmas.

We had a wonderful Christmas celebration with my family and some friends who live in the area. The day went by too fast. Today is Monday, 12/27 and we had 3 inches of snow and very cold weather. It made it very slippery driving and walking because of the ice too. Michael has 4 wheel drive and has Mondays off, so he picked me up and we went out for breakfast right in town.

Your Christmas meals sound great and I'm sure the best part is seeing all the family members who were able to make it.
You must get pictures of your new grandson and I bet he is changing each time you see a new picture of him.

Tina,

I always enjoy reading about your adventures and activities.

Wishing all a good week and a Happy New Year filled with good health and happiness.

Phyllis
