How terribly sad t0 lose lives to a fire like that..normally we may have seen it in our local papers but it seems the media are focusing on the Asian event.
Our weather usually is way colder and snowier than where Phyllis lives but this year it is reversed..We have to have a car where we live because since it is only a village in the hub of 3 towns there is no public transportation and when I was a television program director I had to drive miles every day to events for 21 years then 9 months after I retired I couldn't settle down to retirement so I travelled a few miles daily to the local animal shelter for 6 years.
I find real hot days are too hard on my body so in the summer I have to go either to a beach or a lake..luckily by car 10 minutes to the beach or 20 minutes to a beautiful lake so a car is a real neccesity to me but admittidly a very expensive thing to own and Gas is expensive and car insurance is expensive not to mention tires and upkeep. You are lucky not to have those expenses//if we had public transportation here I would not have a car..the nearest area of public transportation is an hour away from us.
Wishing you a bit of cooler weather and lots of happiness.
