Subject: Something Nicer...

Well, the year seems to have started off with sad (world)news.. so I thought I'd tell you about a day out I had with my daughter Pam, a week ago. For those of you interested in Aussie wildlife.. we went to a place called the Healsville Wildlife Sanctuary.. which is about 2 1/2 hours drive from here (Pam has a car and drives even if her Mom doesn't!)
It's a sanctuary in the hills for all sorts of Aus.animals, birds and reptiles. The day we went wasn't like mid summer, it was more like mid winter! It belted down rain at times, and cold too. Wet animals, dripping forests of trees and ferns, soaked people, muddy tracks.. but even so it was great! We saw koalas and kangaroos, all sorts of native birds.. wombats (that's the one we talked about last year Tina, that you thought was a small pig!) the 'wetlands, with all sorts of waterbirds.. Pam made ham and salad rolls to take, and we bought cups of tea and a cake each from the kiosk then found a shelter out of the rain to eat our picnic lunch.
There are waterbirds called ibis, and they just wander freely through the crowds of visitors, so tame and so cheeky. Two kept coming up to us and trying to snitch bits of our lunch!
So it was a precious 'sharing 'time with my daughter.. it's not often that the two of us are just out together without her husband, or other family members.
Ellie.

Ellie as I read of your nice adventure I felt as if I were walking through the park and sharing the adventure with you and your daughter..what a lovely feeling to have at 8 am on a sunday morning.Wonderful how anothers adventures can brighten ones day.
I am going to venture out to church although it is quite cold out,I usually don't mind the cold but we just had a week of unusually warm weather, actually it broke the record for this time of year in Nova Scotia.Needless to say my body got adjusted to the warmer air than it will today with sudden cold again.lol
