Subject: We are on an Elephant Binge!

Tina.. you are a triumph of joyful living! Happy belated birthday.. it shows how much you are loved and appreciated by your family. Elephants.. well you mentioned yours.. I read the mail from Phyliss and she said that her little grand-daughter had an elephant costume for Halloween, and would you believe last night at our writing group meeting, one of our oldest members, lovely Jessie-- 84-- read us a story about her elephant collection!
I actually have a few elephants too.. tho I don't actually collect them. So now I'm thinking of giving mine to Jessie for her collection.
Ellie.

years ago when my children were little a manufacturing plant built by East Indians was erected 30 miles from here. They bought a live elephant with them against everyones warnings that the elephant could not survive in this area.Besides the weather she was lonely for her own kind.We went to visit her many times in the few months she lived here.Always she was crying cup size elephant tears and made us furious at her owners-against all protests they kept her tied to a chain there until she died of a broken heart. At least she died before the cold weather got here to add to her misery.
I bought a big elephant nic nack so the kids would never forget what possessive cruelity can do to an animal. When the kids got older they started to buy me elephant jewelery and nic nacks..no one will ever forget her in my family..even the grandchildren have been told of this event.
