Subject: gave up

I looked in on voy day after day and I seemed to be the only one putting anything on so I gave up-this morning"since I was up extra early" decided to take a peek..low and behold there were messages there-great!
On Oct 23-two days before my birthday my family had a "bang up" surprise birthday party for me at the local English style pub.I thought my daughters and I were just going to evening lunch.they had reserved half the pub and to add to it there were 2 men singing ,they were great.I had gifts of roses, books, gift cert to coffe shop, dvd player, elephant nic nack, elephant pattern socks, case pop and opera and bird magazines, beautiful silver dolphin bracelet. We had a marvelous time. This was the big 70 and the fact that I surpassed the doctors expectations of living more than 2 yrs after my cancer.
I feel in good health, still volunteering at hospital and animal shelter events also church events.
Not looking forward to winter weather..some of it I love but the bitter bitter cold I hate so hopefully we will not get too much of that.
So very nice to hear what the rest of you are doing, getting together with families and friends is always so rewarding.
Ellie I hope you don't get too much of real hot weather and Phyllis heres hoping you and I have a milder winter,we did escape the hurricanes thank heavens.
All the best to all!

I too decided to check this site and was happy to read about your birthday celebration. What a lovely surprise and special gifts that you received. Your family did well to keep it a secret from you.

We continue to have beautiful weather this week and the city is collecting leaves this fall. We can put them in front of the sidewalk area up to a certain date and they will collect them even though they are not bagged. I should be doing this today but instead I went grocery shopping and ran a couple of errands. I am having company for supper Saturday and am going to make a spinach pie for the main dish.

Ellie, even though I am not fond of hot weather it sounds good when we will now be going into our cold season.

Hi Margaret, enjoy reading about your activities and I know that you are very busy and write when you can.

Have to sign off as Rufus & I are going to take a short walk.
