Subject: I'm late!

Tina, I'm sorry to hear about Barney, I know how painful it is to lose a loved pet. It reminded me of the day my daughter lost both her cat AND her dog on the same day. The dog.Jake, had to beput to sleep, and the cat died of natural causes. To make matters worse it happened on my birthday! My daughter and family came to see me that day, but she was close to tears most of the day, and so was I. This was some years ago, but it's still vivid.
Anyway.. Spring is here for you over there, and Autumn here for us. Today is Good Friday here, so I wish you all a happy and safe Easter. Not sure if I'm seeing family over Easter, but I've got together some chocolate goodies for them if I do! Tomorrow night I'm going to a service where my friend Lorraine will be admitted to the Church (adult confirmation) It's a Catholic Church.. I'm not Catholic, but Lorraine has asked me to go.. and I feel the essence of it all is all people, all faiths.
Play rehearsals are continuing.. next one on Monday night.
Walking the dogs in the woods sounds magical Tina.. and congrats on Zoe's achievement!
Happy Easter, everybody!
Ellie.

thank you girls on thoughts of my losing Barney.
Happy Easter all and to your loved ones.
We are all gathering at my youngest daughters for Easter Sunday-about 30 minutes from here. Everyone is taking something different to eat.I am taking a roaster full of scallop potatoes,Cynthia is doing the hams and yams, someone else salads, another sweets etc.
First,Easter breakfast brunch at church, then church.
Yesterday youngest daughter and her man came and cut down 2 trees by my pond..they were damaged in Dec.I am so glad to have them gone, we planted 2 cedars in their place..they look nice, only 3 ft high and nice and rounded.
It is so nice to be able to go out and "puddle"around the yard, fixing up winters damage, picking up small limbs and raking up the oak leaves that only fall during the winter, they are like hard pieces of thin cardboard in spring. All the other leafy trees loose their leaves in the fall.I have 2 giant oaks which drop lots of acorns, the squirells and chipmunks love them and when the remaining ones are softened by winter the crows like to knock them open and eat the insides..oh but still plenty to be raked up.I have an ash,4 maples on the lawn which make a lot of fall raking and lots of pine needles from the pine 4 pines. It is so pretty having a really large lawn, a park like setting but oh so very much work.Granted it is work I enjoy but I am so slow at it these days.
The ducks are nesting in the woods back of my pond,I like the beautiful wood ducks best, it is so funny, every year the males paddle around in the pond mostly all day waiting for the weeks to pass so they can get a little loving from their mates after the eggs have hatched, the females only come to the edge of the pond for cracked corn early in the morning and around 4 in the afternoon, the males come running after them but with head down, neck stretched out the "girls" give saucy quacks and try to chase the males away."not today honey.I have a head ache"lol
