Subject: Spring cleaning! Bleh!!!

Hey everyone! I'm just taking a break from spring cleaning. I pulled all the furniture out of J's room the other day, and so far have cleaned his vertical drapes and the top of his window architrave. I need a bit of positive encouragement cause I've hit the wall and I've still got a bed and bedroom furniture cluttering up the dining room.

I need to get in and clean the ceiling and walls today (in prep for painting), then I'm planning on doing the windows and screens before dh puts the new furniture he's planning to build over Christmas into the room.

He wants me to leave the old furniture where it is because he thinks it will give him a push in the right direction to getting the new stuff made (constant reminder kind of thing). To me it's just a constant reminder that the house is a mess.

Kylie

Spring cleaning ! sounds heavenly to me because our winter weather is just starting..but cold weather wise we are a whole month and a half behind last year. No snow yet ! Well 2 inches one day-that classes as nothing around here.
You sound like me though..I can't stand things not getting finished right away..I am so impatient that way..another thing I can't stand is to be late for any event..I am always early..Ralston for years nearly drove me nuts because he was never ready on time..in our older age he finally gets ready for everything on time.
Home made furniture? How talented !lucky you.

Hi Kylie,

You sound like you are making progress on your large project. It takes time to do and you should just keep in mind that when it gets down it be worth it. Where do you live? Is it really spring where you are? You must be excited to being getting new furniture built.

I have all these projects that I need to get motivated to get started on but since I have only been retired for a month and a half I figure I then can wait. Holiday time is too busy to think of these projects and I am thinking about my upcoming trip to Florida to see my granddaughters and have to get ready and decide what to pack. I will going in January.

Good luck on your spring cleaning.

It's actually Summer here now in Australia, but I'm running a bit late on the spring cleaning. I tend to try and do at least one room very thoroughly every school holidays.

I got nothing done today with J's room, as I made the mistake of looking at the rest of the house which I've been ignoring. Now that it's back in order (of sorts) I'll jump back into J's room tomorrow.

I am very blessed. Dh is even talking of putting a reading lamp into the bedhead.

J is getting a very modern looking study bunk and chest of drawers. Now all I need to do is convince dh to let me paint it the blue and lime green that J wants.

X (when we get around to her room) will be getting a day bed, small desk, wardrobe and standard lamp in shabby chic style (she comments on shabby chic stuff every time we're in a shop that sells it, so we figure that's the road to go with her.

Take a long break Kylie..Spring is over, it's summer! LOL!
Seriously tho, it does get daunting, thing is to take it in measured doses and think how beautiful it will all look when it's all cleaned and painted, new furniture too.
When my boys were teenagers their room was appalling, no other word for it.I wouldn't clean it anymore, they did, or if they didnt it stayed like a tip.
One day a neighbours little kid came in and said to me, 'Si says there are snakes and spiders under his bed."
I asked the kid did he believe that, and he nodded and said emphatically 'YES!'

My goodness Kylie, you have been a busy bee. Sounds like the childrens bedrooms will be fantastic when finished. I'm sure it will be worth the disruption in the meantime.
