Subject: Phyllis-snow

Phillis what part of the USA do you live in..you beat us with snow-so far this fall we only go 2 inches althought the northern parts of NOva Scotia got dumped on like you did.Even central NS got tons of snow.Today we are supposed to go to 10 cels and have rain for 2 days..odd for us but nice for travel.Tomorrow is my youngest granddaughters school Christmas concert and my "chemo pains" seem over for this run so I am looking forward to going.Next chemo Dec.23 so from 26 to 30 will most likely have the leg and foot pains..I have all the things done ahead that I can do..even some of the types of meals made that can be frozen in the deep freeze..so we won't go hungry for cooked meals.Plus lots of baked goodies frozen.I like fresh best but one has to do what one can.
Do you live in a town or city? this is a little village where I live but it is the hub to 2 major towns so we are positioned in a very nice area..minutes to the ocean in summer-minutes to a very large lake in the opposite direction and a yard like the garden of Eden..if I don't make it to the right place in the next world at least I have known a bit of heaven here-lol

Hi Tina,

First of all I am glad that your leg and foot pains have stopped. You are in my thoughts daily and in my prayers.

Sounds like it will be fun to attend your granddaughter's Christmas concert at school. Grandchildren are such a gift and blessing. Your decription of where you live sounds absolutely beautiful. I live in the city in New Hampshire which is located in northeastern United States.
It is one of the six New England states, the others being Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The state enjoys all four seasons. Our summers are short and cool; winters are long and cold; fall is glorious with foliage. The weather station on Mount Washington has recorded some of the coldest temperatures and strongest winds in the continental United States. Our nearest beach is an hour and a half away. We have beautiful mountains and we have a lot of tourism visiting our state, especially for skiing and in the fall for foliage.
It is good that you have done so much cooking & baking ahead of time. That way you can go out for the day and not worry "what's for supper". We are expecting a rain storm tomorrow which will make for icy roads.

Good to chat with you.

Take care.

Eight years ago on our way to Cape Cod-drove through only part of your fair state..My youngest daughter and I went across on the Prince of Fundy..had my little red cheve car then..we travelled as near to the coast as we could but spend a little inland time in New Hempshire.Sadly all the places are sort of run together in my mind scenery wise but I do remember we found a restaurant somewheres near a place I think called Vaughn..had the best chinese food I had eaten for years and I am not sure but it may have been in your state we came across the nicest little animal park..lots of deer..the small breed that we don't have here..ours are almost twice as large..we made the mistake of travelling through Boston on the way to Cape cod-traffic nightmare but we came back a different route. All the way down the coast it was so beautiful..It was the first weeks of June that we travelled..a perfect time for that trip.
My only other travel in the USA was spending 3 weeks in Orlando..we took in a different tourist experience every blessed day..it was terrific.
On our first trip driving down the coast we spent a couple days on old orchard beach-Maine- every lodging was almost half price..bet the tourist season by 1 week..how lucky can one get?lol..we are known for good fish and chips but have to admit -down at the docks in Plymouth..by the Mayflower replica there was a restaurant that sold better that I have ever eaten here.I was looking at my pics of Plymouth wax museum the other day..beautifully presented museum. But now I do wish we would have stayed and explored New Hempshire more before moving on.Everyone we met all along the way was so helpful and nice.

Hi Tina,

I have never been to Nova Scotia but hear it is beautiful. I do not like to travel any great distance by car, rather fly to get to my destination. The traffic in Boston is terrible and Massachusetts drivers have a reputation when it comes to driving. (At least when we were younger we were told this). When you get in the wrong lane or are lost in Massachusetts, it is hard to correct that. Cape Cod
is a lovely place especially in the summertime. Funny you should mention Old Orchard beach as when I was growing up we spend two weeks there each summer. My father's relatives had cabins that they rented out and we got a good deal on them. I use to love the all the amusements and the awesome french fries. Such wonderful memories with my family at the seashore. I usually go to York Beach in Maine now with friends during the summertime for the day only, as my golden retriever is 11 l/2 years old and I ask my daughter and her husband to look on him for the day. Luckily that are taking him to their house when I leave for Florida in January. They have done this for me for the last 2 years on my Florida trips. I really love seafood, Fish & Chips & scallops are among my favorite. We have a great restaurant here in our city that broils the scallops with breading and it is wonderful. We have so many restaurants ranging from Italian, Greek, Chinese, Steakhouse and many, many pizza places.

Do you get the Woman's World, The Woman's weekly magazine in your area? It is a favorite of mine as it has very good articles in it.

Nice to chat with you.

Take care

Hi Tina,

You are right that magazine is great! This week has some good articles as well as recipes.

I am going to my old office to have lunch with one of my friends (we had lunchs and breaks together for 17 l/2 years.) She will be retiring next year and lives about 18 miles from me. I made stuffed peppers and am bringing her some for lunch as when I called her she did not bring her lunch today.

We are expecting another snowstorm on Sunday night into Monday. On well the plow people and skiers are happy!

Take care.

Hi Susan,

It is great to meet new friends and to learn so much about other countries. We are once again waiting for another "Northeastern" snowstorm which will be arriving by early evening and expected to continue through Monday. It seems like we are off to an early start of plenty of snow. I hope that we will not have any major storm when I will be flying to Florida.

I sang in the choir today at church and next week the children will be presenting their Christmas programs and Santa will be visiting the children. I am also invited back to my old office on 12/22, to celebrate their Christmas party. They are ordering Chinese Food and we are all bringing in desserts.

Have to go now as I need to walk my dog before the storm arrives.

Have a good week. Will talk to you soon.

My favotite food- if I lived handier I would be joining you-lol..Phillis did you know Nova Scotia is Canadas hardest place to predict the weather? We get your weather a day later than you ..if..get this..if the storms from upper Canada are not stronget than your storms..so we have to watch two main weather forces and hope there is not yet a stronger storm coming from the northern atlantic.Thank heavens we mainly get a weakened version of your storms.Today we are to get heavy rains and high winds..I will watch tv news to see if you got this storm in snow or rain.

Hi Tina,

Thanks for giving me the information on Nova Scotia's winter weather. Your weather men have a hard job. We got all snow in our area. What a job to dig out. My tenants have 3 cars (one is a state car because he works in construction) and we have a very narrow driveway. On the outer entrance their is a water hydrant on one side and a telephone pole on the other side so in the winter makes it difficult to get out of our driveway. We have to back out. We are on a street that has lots of traffic particularly during the work week. The good part about living in the city is that we are central to everything and in good weather excellent for walking and we can walk to our downtown area. Chinese is not my favorite food but everyone in my old office seem to be crazy about Chinese takeouts. Seafood, Pizza, and spinach pie are my favorites. (I also love blueberrry muffins) I'm not sure what I will make for dessert to bring to my old office.

Have to go out and do some more shoveling.

Take care.
