Time to catch up!
How has everyone been, and what have you been doing?
I know I've been very busy having a relax. I finally started really getting the house in order yesterday, so that I could feel comfortable starting to work on lesson plans on Monday. I have a whole list of things to do outside today. Now I just need to convince that darling hubby of mine that he wants to help, because they are things like using his big ladder to get up on the roof so I can sweep it off. All the gums have been losing heaps of bark because of the dry, and that creates a major fire hazard when it all lands on the roof. I also want to get the fishfern that has started growing back poisoned, but because of asthmas I'm trying to convince dh that it's his job. If he doesn't do it soon though, I will do it asthma or not, because I'm not going to watch all the hard effort I put in last year to pull it all out just fade away as it all grows back again.
Talking of my darling husband, he's completely changed his look in the last week and is now shaved bald and has a small goatee and moustach.
J and X have been busily catching up on lots of computer games over the holidays, and we had a fishing/kiteflying day last week that they thoroughly enjoyed. I got sunburnt despite using sunscreen. The burn is just going down now.
It seems that Kameow is gone for good, but Relly (the stray) seems to have made our house a semi-permanent home.
Dh's (maternal) grandfather is very sick right now. We fully expect dh to be travelling west very soon for a funeral. His Mum and Dad travelled across yesterday because they called all the children to the hospital.
I have been doing a reasonable amount of writing recently, and the manuscript I have been working on is now at 10,000 words. My goal is to have it completed by June to send away to a publisher.
I haven't yet achieved my daily goal of training China, but it is happening more regularly than it was, so that at least is a bonus.

Hi Kylie, sorry to hear about your husbands Grandfather, hope all goes okay. Thinking of you.
Hope you get your husband organised with those chores - hopefully sooner rather than later.
I am also very sorry about Kameow, it is a horrible feeeling not knowing what has actually happened. Sounds like Rellie had decided to adopt you as his/her own. Hope all goes well with him/her for you all.
How is China going? Are the training lessons working out for you and has her protectiveness been any more of a problem?
Good luck with the book, sounds fantastic and hope is does get published, then we can say - I knew her when...she was on Chat Shop (lol). Seriously, hope it goes well. What sort of story - a Fantasy type?
Cheers
Susan

Actually, now both dh's Grandfathers are in hospital, and for one they have called the family to the hospital. *concerned frown*
Apparently Rellie turned up for breakfast this morning, which is a first. She's only been a nighttime visitor up to now.
We got the roof swept, the garden gutters cleared, the pavers and driveway cleared and half the eaves (the ones I could reach) cleaned. Then in the evening, when we'd planned to poison the fishfern that has grown back, I got sick so we had to stop.
China is getting better. At the moment we're at the getting her to sit with me at the doorway and talk to people at the gate stage (about four metres distance), and she doesn't go off. Any closer and she starts going into protection mode, but at least she will sit now. I'm working on getting the distance between me and the gate to be less.
The story is a contemporary fiction which I'm currently calling 'Ghosts of Goodwill'. I'm also working on a story about a cat who thinks he's a prince, called 'Saving One's Royal Hindquarters'. I also have some concept pieces written down for a fantasy, a psyche-swap thriller and a sci-fi (my writing range seems to be nearly as broad as my reading range. I love nearly all genres aside from horror, and tend to write similarly.

this is certainly a busy time in your life-with grandfather illness-writing"your ideas sound great-cleaning the roof..we have a maple tree which in the fall looses leaves-ok we can sweep them off but now a moss had started growingand that has to be scraped off carefully so the roof won't leak if we scrape too hard.Because I was sick when it should have been taken off this year it didn't get done-now it holds too much snow on that spot-One of my boys will fix it this week end I hope.Much easier than what you went through.
I also have a stray cat-I call him/her teatime because she/he shows up at 4 pm every day..I turned a box upsidedown on the covered back patio-box has an opening at the bottom that way where I can put food and a blanket inside..but Teatime just eats and runs..I think she found a spot to get into our garage but with this cold weather I worry about him/her..but can't get within 15 feet of her.
Hope your other cat comes home..don't despair yet.
