Subject: Been out of Touch for Far Too Long!
Wow! Time has been going quickly this year.
That's probably a good thing with everything that's been happening, the year didn't start well. We ended up having to give up dh's car. Because we didn't have the money, my car has remained unregistered to the point where it would now require a blue slip.
BUT, we've borrowed a friend's car up until last week when it's engine went again - discovered that when the engine was rebuilt the screw in the sump plug was cross-threaded and that caused the engine to die - don't buy a Kia (we've had two friends with them, and heard of several others, and far too many lemons amongst them).
Dh thought he was going to have to stop working for a couple of days while we organised some stuff, but another friend gave him a lift to his job the next day, then the day following we got a call from the Toyota yard we're getting a new car for dh from to say it wouldn't be in on the date specified - again! Well, they were also ringing to ask if dh would like to come in and make use of a loan car until his arrives. Dh jumped at the chance, and for now we're driving around last year's model Toyota Camry stationwagon. I keep telling dh that I wish we had a deposit to get it too. It's a very nice vehicle.
Oh, the new car will be a gunmetal Toyota Hilux twincab.
Other news - I had my first singing lesson today, and am still on a high.
Kylie

Sorry to hear about your car trouble. We have to depend on our vehicles for everything. I used to have a Toyota for many years and it was a very good car. It was 4 speeds and I had to have the clutch replaced once because I had the bad habit of riding the clutch. The reason I chose a 4 speed was because it was less expensive than an automatic one. Other than that it did not require anything major.
When I bought my next car I bought an automatic one because it was so much easier. I know have a Mercury Topaz, it is a larger car but I really like it.
How exicting that you are taking singing lessons. I sing in our church choir as an alto. We have a soprano who has an absolutely beautiful voice. She also sings professionaly. I love music and usually have the radio tuned to my favorite station when I am on the computer at home. Kenny Rogers is one of my favorite singers. I have seen him in person 3 times at concerts.
Good luck with your car.
Phyllis

Woohoo!!!! -- Kylie, 04:50:48 03/03/04 Wed (webcache02.mas.optusnet.com.au/211.29.136.12)
Dh's new vehicle arrived yesterday, so now he can do all the work he's been putting off because he was't able to use his long ladder with the borrowed vehicles.
Now we just need to get my car back on the road.
