Subject: Try again!!!!
Sorry- I have put a newsy post up- but I think I forgot to submit or something...it's lost forever!!
I hope every one who needs it has had some rain, or some sun...depending on where you are!
Well- more bush news- it's not very grand,
small things are "big news" when on the land!
Looks like the drought's back, just what we need,
Dusty and dry sheep, searching for feed.
The "padre" called here just the other day,
on his visits to people so far away-
He's a friendly young chap, very free with his smiles,
bringing rockmelon and apples for miles and miles!
He arrived just at tea-time...oops, set a new place-
We were embarrassed- we forgot about Grace!
last week was the turn of a man hunting FROGS
he rustled the rushes, and peered under logs-
in search of a rare one, the Southern bell
he found some right here, alive, fit and well!
he stayed for some nights, while he travelled the River
looking for beasties that make some people quiver!
He's an ecolgist person- very knowing and wise
he'll tell about dunnarts, and geckoes and flies,
about how the salinity's killing the frogs,
and why our environment's "gone to the dogs".
We had a "few" folk over to tea
I lie, I admit, it was a round fifty!
WE cooked them a roast, and made sponges and cream-
did breakfast as well- it went like a dream!
egg , bacon and toast , and lots of hot tea-
The amount some did eat was something to see!
Any way folks- must go & feed chooks-
then me for a "cuppa", & a look at some books.
I've been busy on eBay- it's a bit of a trap
i buy gifts for others, & then i just snap!
See a book I MUST have( as if we need more)
the house has been taken over, I'm sure!
Oh, well..it's better than smoking or gambling-
to be reading, or cooking, or, like now- just rambling!!!
bye all!

I enjoyed reading about your adventures and can tell that you are a gifted writer.
My sister is gifted too, however I am not a writer.
I would like to know what "rockmelon" is? Is it similiar to watermelon?
We have been having good weather for a couple of weeks. Nice break during our long winter here in New England. I'm sure that we will get a couple of good snowstorms before our winter is over.
Two of my friends are going to retired, one in May and the other in June. I have ordered a couple of retirement gifts from catalogues that I received in the mail.
I hope everyones weather will improve. Our temperature today is 34 degrees but expected to get much colder as cold front moving in.
Greetings to all "coffee chat" members.
Have a good weekend.

Well, thanx, but :gifted"? not really, it just happens, with little control on my part!

Thanks for explanation -- Phyllis, 20:09:11 03/14/04 Sun (dial-66-218-17-128.usadatanet.net/66.218.17.128)
Thanks for the explanation of rockmelon. I am familiar with cantaloupe but never heard of rockmelon before.
Our weather is good today but expect major snowstorm on Thursday. We will have to wait and see. We are due for one as it has been a while since we had any.
Hope you are having a good weekend.
