Subject: goings on

This morning I am volunteering at the Bridgewater hospital-since feeling better I volunteer there once a week-then this afternoon going to Halifax to visit my husband who had a knee replacement yesterday, he will be there about 5 more days.
Starting May 11 I will be volunteering at the big ex building getting things ready for the big Animal shelter sale. Some will remember me saying every year things are collected or for 3 weeks folks can bring things to the big ex-we place things in "boutique stalls"jewelry, one big book room,a big toy room, lamp and appliance room, rug room, hugh clothing room, dishes and nic nacks have center court, all antiques are auctioned off after noon on sale day.Thousands of people come and the building is sold out in one day.The profit for the shelter is always around twenty thousand dollars.A months work sold in one day..more than a months work for some because some folks collect all year and have to empty their basement by truck to take it to the big ex building.
all other years I had the book department but this year books are too heavy for me so I will have the toy Dept. Each person gets 3 or 4 friends to help sell in his/her dept. on the big day.First Sat in June.
WE are having a very late spring-the weather is warmer but very few days that you can go without a sweater or jacket.
I think where Phyllis lives it is much warmer than here.
She is in USA but not terribly far from here.
Best wishes to all!!!

Always look forward to your updates on what you are doing.

It is very kind of you to volunteer at the hospital and the animal shelter in June. That is a lot of money for the shelter and I am sure that they can put it to good use. The toy department sounds like fun. It sounds like a huge project and many people donate a lot of items and it draws a large crowd.

Today, we had a food drive and our local mailman picked up packages from our homes to deliver to food pantries. They usually do this once a year.

Hope your husband is improving each day. It takes time to recover from knee surgery.

You are right our weather here in USA had been warmer but last 2 days it is cool. I prefer the cool weather rather than the humid weather.

Wishing all of you a Happy Mother's Day!

I am planning to go to church, then out to a late lunch at an Italian restaurant with my daughter, sister and a friend.

Phyllis
