Subject: Now that I'm back..

Hello again.. Tina and Philys.. re Quebec. I went to Quebec when I visited my brother in Toronto nearly 2 years ago. We. brother John, his wife Jane, and my long time friend Ruth whom I travelled to Canada with drove there for a weekend stay. Itwas SO beautiful, in fact the whole of Canada (well what I saw in 3 weeks) is beautiful.. so clean and so much water!! Australia looks like a desert (well it is in many parts) compared with all the lakes and waterways of Canada. I can read some French, and tried to teach myself some more.. even tried to speak a little!
I found the Canadian people unfailingly polite except for Montreal (what is it with Montreal?) We were warned that no-one would speak English to us in Quebec and people would be rude. Not so. They did talk to us in English and were really nice people. It was Montreal where we encountered rudeness.
Has anyone heard from Susan lately? I know she is really busy with their business, but I was wondering how her son Leigh is getting on in London.
Kylie.. hope those slow payers pay up soon! Good to hear news of J and X.
I was talking(phone) to a friend in Mildura tonight.. her daughter,28.. has just had her 5th baby! A little boy.Jonathan, that makes 3 boys and 2 girls-- under 8 years old. Guess my mind is a little on babies with a new grandchild arriving later this year!
Catch up again soon.
Ellie.

I'm still around Ellie *insert smiley face*. One of my dreams is to see Canada one day, I've seen documentaries and it appears just lovely. How is your brother getting on? I've been thinking of him.
Yes, we've been busy and not had very much computer time at all, I will update you all on Leigh and how he is going.

Cheers Susan

Hi Ellie,

Sounds like you had a great time on your trip to Quebec 2 years ago. I have never been to Canada. My sister and her husband have been there several times.

Traveling for long distances by car is not my favorite thing (as a child I used to get car sick). About 2 hours by car is enough for me. I rather fly then drive.

You must be so looking forward to the arrival of your newest grandchild. My second granddaughter was born last November. I miss seeing my granddaughters and am looking forward to another trip to Florida perhaps in the fall.

It's great that we have computers so at least I can see pictures on line.

I hope your brother is doing well. I have been including him in my prayers.

Take care.

Phyllis

Thank you for yourprayers for my brother-- he's doing okay so far, finishes the chemo/radiation on June 23-- then they will see how things are. They have a beautiful cottage on the Georgian Lakes at Pointe Au Baril, and he will go there for a recuperation period when the treatment finishes.
Flying.. well, that trip to Canada was my first time ever overseas, and only my second time ever on a plane!
My kids made me do a trip from Melbourne to Sydney.. just an hours flight..to get used to it before I did the big one to Canada. And wouldn't you know it, on that flight. the Melb/Sydney one there was a bomb scare! I couldnt believe it. My first ever of flying and we have a bomb scare!
It was all okay tho.. nothing really, just the airline being careful.
My new grandchild is due in Nov too.. tho not sure what date.. will have to check that out.
Ellie.

Ellie,

I am glad that your brother is doing ok. (I have a list by my bedside that I pray for each night for friends and anyone that needs special prayers that I know about.)

How frightening to have a bomb scare on your first plane ride. You were brave to continue flying again. It better to be safe when any question of safety.

I got pulled aside when I made a trip to Florida and had to take my shoes off. The only good thing was that someone had told me before not to worry just be sure to wear clean socks. It did make me nervous though to be singled out and pulled aside. I was traveling alone and I also had to change planes on that trip. On my last 2 visits I have traveled with my ex-husband and I enjoyed the company. I am looking forward to another trip either in November or January. I miss my granddaughters and wish there were closer by.

Today was a beautiful day here in New Hampshire. It was cool with a nice breeze and sunny.

Have a nice weekend.

Phyllis
