Oh, dear. I guess in a lot of ways it's worse that your mum's still around, and you're having to do this. We have lived here for 70 yrs, and have stuff stacked to the ceiling- i'm dreading the day...

My father went like this, and it was his body but not my dad. The hardest part was before he got very bad and he realised what was happening, he was so upset but couldn't do anythink about it. He couldn't accept my sons as they were growing up but when shown pictures of them small, he would accept it for a short time. Ask about their youth, and they can remember, but not the present.

You have your memories nothing will take them away, just enjoy what she has to offer now.

Thank you Margaret. Glad to see you back here. How is everything going with you?
We do talk about Rob's Mum's earlier years to her and she remembers vividly her childhood on the farm and her nursing years until she married and can share these memories with her.
She remembers every one of her children but not the grand children and we have explained to them why.
Rob says he feels as if he has lost the Mum he knows and that she is just a shell of the person he knows and loves. This is a horrid disease.
