Subject: Happy Birthday to Me!

I woke up this morning to find that J had been sick during the night and rather than wake dh and I up he had simply changed his shirt and moved himself to the loungeroom with a clean blanket (eeeewwwwwwww!!!!!!! It had soaked into everything!).

I managed to get back to bed at 6.15, only to have dh ring at 6.45 to say sorry for forgetting it was my birthday (he assumed I would have stayed up, but I was tired and it's my birthday so I gave myself permission to snuggle back up in bed and go back to sleep).

I thought J was getting a little better until I gave him some panadol to bring his temperature down. Let's just say, that was not a successful venture.

Then I got a call from my doctor's surgery to say the doctor wants to see me about some blood tests I had done last week. Dh won't be home early enough today (and I can't go out with J being sick anyway), so that's going to have to wait until Thursday, when my doctor is back in again.

X is bucking having to do schoolwork because J doesn't have to.

Up-notes, X gave me a beautiful hand-made card this morning, dh did remind the kids that it was my birthday, my mother rang from Qld even though I know it had to cost her a fortune on her mobile (she also had to walk a couple of kms to get signal) and some of my friends on an on-line forum made a birthday thread for me (although one did threaten me with vegemite in my birthday cake).

I hope J is feeling better soon and all goes well at the doctor for you. Wasn't a very nice start to the day was it?
X's birthday card sounds lovely and it's great your Mum rang. Hope the rest of the day goes well, Happy Birthday.

Everyone is better and my new lounges (my present) turned up yesterday, so I'm feeling a lot better about my 30th.

I had forgotten just how big the armchairs were. They're each nearly as heavy as the sofabed ottoman we got with them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLIE! If you were within 100 miles where I live, I'd treat you to as much beer as you would like (or Australian Shiraz, whichever you prefer, he he). Sure hope everything goes well with your doc appointment. :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Kate, I'm definitely a Shiraz type of girl, although I've discovered lately that I have a definite inclination toward Durif.

The day ended on an up-note, so I guess it was a good birthday all around.

Honestly, I discovered Shiraz only last year, but have found it very much to my liking. But what's Durif? I don't even think that's available in my part of the world. :P

It's a fairly new red with hints of blackberry in it's flavours, not quite as dry as Shiraz.

I'll have to check this Durif out. Bit redfaced here as I live in a wine region and have never heard of it. Someone told me about a drink called "Mudslide" the other day. Apparently similar to Kaluah and milk but in a bottle and a Vodka base and can get it in either, Caramel, Chocolate or Coffee.
Glad your birthday ended well Kylie and glad you didn't mind that I put it on Cat World, but I just had too (lol).

Eeeeeewwwwww!!!!!!!!!!! Had a very bad night out with vodka when I was 18 and haven't been able to drink it since. I do like most other alcohol in small quantities (big fan of port), but I can't stand being somewhere where everyone is drunk. I guess you go one of two ways when you grow up in a household where everyone denies that someone is an alcoholic. You either join them or you're turned off by it completely. I'm the same with cigarettes, except that I don't even think a social one is good.

re; alcohol & smoking- I did drink a bit when 17/18,"cause it was "cool"( I never got drunk, thank heavens) but haven't had any for about 20 yrs.I sometimes would like a nice, smooth port, but think "why?" I don't really NEED it, and if it's something sweet I want- i have a chocolate!LOL. Can't stand the smell of stale beer, or alcohol breath either- I'm also not one to be very polite to people who are drunk! (I can relate to the alcholic in the family thing)Now you see why I don't go to parties..Ha Ha.
Smoking? well- my Mum made me smoke a cigarette when I was about 4 ( she caught me running out of the house with it !), and I've never had another! Both Mum and Paul(brother ) smoke like chimneys- always have- I hate the thought of it(and the smell).
Chocolate addiction-? I confess!!

My older, then-teenage sisters fed me a cigarette when I was six. I was never even tempted to try smoking one.
