Subject: just everyday things

Had a nice week even though we are in a "deep freeze" Minus 12 or 14 with wind chils to minus 27 cels.At least the roads are all cleared and bare for driving. Re-stocked the foods yesterday. Feb. could be bad driving again so we bought quite a few groceries, one store had a big sale on roasts and potatoes.Made my favorite "lazy" dinner when I came home, mixed hamburg & rice & can tomatoes, pinch ginger, salt. Layered cabbage in bottom of the roast pan, then layered the hamburg mixture, then layered on more chopped up cabbage, honey garlic sauce and some heintz ketchup..put it in the oven 2 hours, at 350...oh so good and always better 2nd day.I make enough always for 2 days and sometimes vary the spices as long as the main ingredients are tomatoes, rice and hamburg, cabbage.
I can't remember if I told you the "biscuit eater" has walls lined with book shelves, some of the rooms have used books, some new books and the romm where you eat has browsing books. The background music is always lovely, soothing type.In summer a very large patio has tables so you can enjoy the gardens that surround it while you eat, read or chat. All this is in and around an old house that has great charm ,rooms were painted keeping in mind the style of the house.
MY scan is going to be on Feb.8 so I don't find out my medical treatment fate until then. I am enjoying this break in the chemo treatments but I do wonder what is growing or not. Feeling good but a bit more tired than I was, but that could be from the cold weather.
Wishing you all the best!

Hi Tina & Ellie,

We have been having the same weather as you Tina. Very cold, but the roads are good for driving. Your receipe sounds very filling and good for a cold winter's day. Thanks for giving it to us. I like trying different ones as I get tired of the same food.

I do like the name of "biscut eater" for a eating establishment and the concept of a relaxed atmosphere.

One of my favorite Italian restaurant went out of business after 30 plus years in our city. They sold out to Walgreen's who will put in another pharmacy in their location. We do not have any Walgreen's here in town.

One of the former owners may re-open another Italian restaurant at a different location but not sure where it will be located or when. I do not like to drive on the highway and avoid it if at all possible.

Ellie, I hope your weather will continue to be cooler and pleasant. I know we will have more winter weather but will enjoy this break while we have it.

Tina, I will be keeping you in my prayers while you wait for your Scan in February. God bless you and your family.

I hope both you gals have a good weekend. I can't believe that February will be here soon.

Phyllis
