Subject: just catching up

Hope things are looking up for you ladies, Our weather is
still cool for this time of your with the exception of 2 really too hot days.Everything is so lush and green from all the rains we had.
Lots of baby wild ducks in my pond,so much fun watching all the antics.Mother ducks have a terrible time watching their broods and sadly lose a few babies to either, racoons, crows, cats etc.I would not want to be a mother duck, sitting on eggs all those weeks and then sometimes losing the whole brood the first trip out.
Today cynthia, zoe and I are going to the valley to the zoo, this we do about four times a year before winter returns. We are such animal lovers. All the animals in this zoo were rescued animals from one country or another so I don't feel guilty that they are not roaming free, but this zoo has acers and acers of property so even the camels, lions, bears etc. have lots of room to roam. They monkey areas are hugh.
I have been feeling fairly good and take advantage of every day that I do feel good.Ralston does not mind my going places as long as he has the t.v. to watch and watch it he does, 12 to 14 hours a day.He did that when he was well and I do think that led to most of his problems, no exercise.
Wishing you ladies all the best.

Hi Tina and Phyliss. Just tuned in feeling VERY guilty that I hadn't written for so long, but I was laid low for three weeks with a heavy cold. (Not swine flu!) However it was really virulent, and I lived in almost isolation for that 3 weeks.. most of the time in bed with my hot water bottle varying between sleeping and reading, and just getting up to feed the cats, do a few little things around, then back to bed again. I didn't go to work for 2 weeks, and didn't want any of my kids to come here in case I infected them, however they rang often to make sure I was okay, and to see if I needed anything. Fortunately I wasn't up to eating much, and had things like soup, crackers, eggs etc in, and food for the cats.
Tina, lovely to hear you still feel well enough to do favorite things. I hope you, Cynthia and Zoe enjoy your trip to the zoo. Animal lovers.. me too!
Phyliss.. I hope by now your daughter has been able to get another job? And that you are well.
Take care,
Hugs from Ellie.

Hi Ellie & Tina,

I hope Ellie that you are all recovered from your bout with your terrible cold and back to feeling normal.

Tina, the zoo trip sounds like fun. My family are also animal lovers. We do not have any zoos nearby. Unfortunately, both my daughter and myself do not like to drive any great distance.

I have been busy spending time with my daughter. She has had 2 interviews and is now waiting to see if she receives any job offers. It has been 7 weeks since she loss her job. There are very few jobs available but she keeps searching through the computer and newspaper.

We celebrated Ashley's first birthday with family and a couple of close friends. Ashley is pulling up on furniture and took her first step (only one). We brought Ashley her first pair of stride-right shoes yesterday. Her foot is so tiny and the shoes are flexible and will provide support as she learns how to walk.

We also had an outdoor party for Kailtyn who turned 4. She had her favorite friends from pre-school attending.
We played a game with putting the paw on the dog (similar to Pin the Tail on the Donkey), also musical chairs, hop scotch, and the children played on the swing set. Thank goodness that the weather was perfect, not too hot. It was so much fun watching the children play and meet the friends that Kaitlyn would talk about. We took plenty of pictures.

Our weather has been cool but that is fine with me. I had my air conditioner installed. I will only use it if necessary.

Wishing you both and your families the best.

Phyllis
