Subject: I completely agree! Back then, if you had made Top 10 at Miss NC it was kind of like a mantle you wore....very similar to how they always introduce former Oscar nominated actors as "Oscar nominated....." Lol. I will never forget the first time I saw a former Top 10 girl lose a local on her way trying to get back to State. Everyone was shocked! Now it happens all the time. Of course, the girl that beat this girl also made Top 10 later that year.

In reply to: 's message, "Back in the 1970's, 1980's and early 1990's contestants were much stronger overall than they are today. You never knew who would make Top Ten, Top Five or win. I wonder how some of our recent Miss NC's would fare against the contestants of the past?" on 09:58:52 01/12/26 Mon

I do believe it’s less competitive than it was in previous years. But you see many girls competing once then walking away because they see how things are done. Some girls come back but rarely the ones that would place at Miss America. Miss NC should be a celebrity of sorts that organizations pay to attend their events. She should make over $100,000 her year but instead she runs around working for free. This makes her less valuable than before. Someone should be actively finding paid appearances. Now, our queens post about the same “unpaid” appearance multiple times. Activity does not equal relevance. No real value. It’s so sad. (NT)No name16:55:38 01/13/26 Tue
