There can always be new comers who do well (Taylor and Hanley are perfect examples.) However, they are the exception and not the rule. I think the best predictor of future success is past performance. Especially those who are consistently improving. Also, when newcomers do well I think it is very rare that they would not have been on the radar of those who frequent the locals and follow socials.
