Subject: Sewing room Christmas ornament ideas

I found this in my files; maybe it will jump start some more ideas.

...folded fabric star - 3 triangles placed so they form a star with a button embellishment

...wrapped spools - torn strips around spools, embellished with buttons, etc.

...card of buttons - cardstock with 4-6 buttons sewn on

...yoyos - about 2-3" with button centers
---jazbo
How about either 2 calicos with batting between them - cut into traditional shapes, sew together, decorate with buttons tied on and floss ends left for decor.

Have you seen the fabric-cinnamon stick Christmas Trees - either a triangle of calico with a cinnamon stick trunk, or little strips of calico tied at distances along the cinnamon stick.

Wrap a piece of thin cardboard and put material around it, to look like a small bolt of material. - Darlene
small "tomato" pin cushions with a few pins glued in through a loop of ribbon to hang it with. Glue the pins in so they won't fall out or be pulled out.

Find the smallest embroidery hoop you can, put a scrap of quilted material between so it's just a little bigger than the hoop and tie a loop of ribbon around the hoop's screw to hang it with. You could use a small piece of an old quilt, if you have one.

Get some tiny folding scissors (Wal-Mart has them), unfold, tie a loop of ribbon through one of the finger holes to hang it with.

Maybe some paper doll clothes as "patterns" or print some mini pattern envelopes to hang.

Use yellow & black tape measure ribbon to make bows for the tree. Put twist ties on them to attach to the tree.

Add tiny pieces of fabric around or paint tiny wooden spools where thread would go and then string them for garland. Maybe alternate with beads...maybe every 5th one is a spool. You could even get the tiny, real thread spools at Wal-Mart and forget the fabric or paint...just string them. I think there's about 20 or so per package.

How about a tiny paper mache box painted like a sewing box? Maybe leave the lid open with a few scraps of material or tiny balls of yarn inside. --Patty

Sewing Jar
In this little jar, you will see
A sewing kit to you from me.
Needles, thread & buttons, too
To help with the mending you do.
Scissors, pins are all within
And a band aid when you prick your skin.

A mother's love is threaded
Deep within the heart
Of each one of her children
Of whom she is a part
She binds and pins the warmth in
The fabric of our souls
She trims away raw edges
So nothing frays our goals
Stitched into our memories
Forever there will be
A dedicated woman
Who loves her family!

Here's a little sewing box
I've put up just for you
To show how much you mean to me
Today and all year through

It's filled with lots of little things
Like needles, threads and pins
A tape measure, some buttons
You'll find lying within

It's just a little sewing box
But it's nice and neat and new
And it will never be empty
For it's filled with love for you

Whenever you have questions
Or feel lost and confused
Just look to your Bible
And put it to good use!

It carries lots of wisdom
On every single page
A pattern for good living
No matter what your age!

So let its verse and stories
Guide you every day
You’ll feel like life has meaning
And never lose your way!

Each day of your life
is like a little stitch
they entwine together
making the experience rich.
And the brighter your colors
and clearer your intention
the better the pattern is
for living without tension.
So read the Bible daily
it gives a plan to follow
and sew your life today
in readiness of tomorrow.

God gives us life and guidance
And choices that are free
But we were not created
To wander aimlessly

That’s why we have the Bible
To steer our daily path
A pattern of good living
Like no other book hath!

So if you will commit to
Read it every day
And follow its directions
You’ll never lose your way!

This quilt in a jar
Is an ‘instant’ mix.
Just add some stitches
To get your quilting fix.
Most quilts warm the body
But this one’s to warm your heart,
By serving as a reminder
That I think of you a lot.
To help you keep it clean all year
And keep from losing it too -
I put it in a jar
And canned it just for you!

"Families are like quilts - Lives pieced together, stitched with smiles and tears, colored with memories and bound by love."

Quilter's Salsa
Take a Mason Jar (pint size), fill it with buttons, embellishments, beads, seed beads, star sequins, snowflake trim, etc. Cover the lid with a piece of fabric tied on with ribbon. Attach a card which says:
Quilter's Salsa
Spice up your quilting projects
For the woman who appreciates fine vintages

**WARNING** Quilt Pox
how about putting a piece of quilted fabric in a ziplock, along with the Quilt Pox Poem and instructions to break open the bag and rub quilt piece on your face to get temporary/immediate relief of the symptoms until you can make it to a fabric store? You can call it a Quilter's emergency Kit. --Carmen

Very Contagious to Adults

Hangs out at Quilting Bees. Mumbles to self "Log Cabin," "Double Wedding Ring," "Ohio Rose, "Need Fat Quarters."
NO KNOWN CURE
Treatment:
Medication is useless; disease is not fatal. Victim should attend as many Quilt Shows and visit as many Quilt Shops as possible.

Hi Jazz,

That list for Sewing Room Christmas Ornament ideas is surely going to be saved by me.

So many nice ideas and I guess cousin Peggy is going to get some nice things from me throughout this coming year.

Thank You So Much Jazz.

Hugs- Joann
