Subject: Sorry, I haven't been here lately!

Sorry, I haven't been here lately, but got Mom and Dad's headstone finalized (FINALLY!!!) yesterday, so it has been ordered now. Made a new floral basket for my Dad's grave and put it up Tues, which would have been Mom and Dad's 64th anniversary. Took Mom with me to visit his grave while I put up the basket. It had rained a lot over the weekend and the ground was squishy, so Mom stayed at the car.

I am trying to make some memory ornaments of Dad's jeans for the entire family (24 of them!) and patriotic door monogram letters for each sibling and Mom. Made 5 batches of caramel corn for Danny's co-workers (had all kinds of trouble with the caramel corn, like a bad ingredient that I used and didn't notice till the 2nd batch, so I had to throw out the 1st completed batch that took 2 hours to do!!!). Then, lost electricity to the house for an hour when I had just gotten the 2nd batch in the oven for 2 min, UGH!!! Blown transformer somewhere in our area. I cooked for about 9 hours on Wednesday and was worn-out!!!

Had to take Mom to the Dr's last Friday at 4:30 to be worked in with the Dr with a foot problem. It was after 6:30 before I got home, completely dark and I don't drive in the dark because I can't see, but I had to! Luckily, the Dr's and her house is within about 2 miles of me and I went through the housing additions!!! Not a fun drive home!!! It was gout in her ankle. Then, had to go get her meds with Danny driving by then.

Saturday night there was to be storms and high winds here and she didn't want to stay by herself at home, so she came down here overnight, but I had to get her back to her house by 8AM on Sunday because her brother from Missouri was coming to visit her.

I'm thankful she's still here, but it sure is stressing me out trying to get her stuff and mine done, too!!!
OK, I think I can get off my soapbox now! LOL!!! Thanks for letting me vent a little...it helps!!! LOL!!!
Patty

Oh my goodness, you certainly have been busy. I just happy that my shopping is mostly completed. Now I can concentrate on baking and grocery shopping. Wrapping is a snap as about 15 years ago, I made a lot of Christmas bags so we just pop the gift (with out without a box depending on the gift), attach a tag (which we reuse year to year) and then put them under the tree. Lots of beautiful Christmas fabrics that are so colorful and bright.

I love the idea of the memory ornaments. Both sets of parents are gone so don't really have a chance to make some memory ornaments but have been thinking of using clear glass balls and putting some items that will definitely bring back memories of lost loved ones.

It can be difficult taking care of parents. Not just the time but the emotions too. YOu want them to keep their independence but worry about them. My M-I-L was on oxygen at home 24/7 for a few years before she passed away. It got to the point that she couldn't do anything for herself. We did all her meals, someone came in to help her shower and other nurses where in and out monitoring her. We were fortunate that she lived right next door to us (good planning - the little house went up for sale as a bank repossesion). Keep smiling!

Oh wow Patty, you sure have been busy and sure had more than your share of problems as well. I hope your mom will be okay and hope you can find some time to just relax and enjoy this Christmas season. Take care and God bless.

Hi Patty,

I can see how you've gotten yourself all stressed out with all you've been going through .. not only taking care of Mom, but with Christmas coming too.

So sorry you had such a nasty day going to the cemetery ..bad enough when the weather is nice. I'm sure your Mom was sad she couldn't get out to see the "Headstone" as well. We had to replace my Dad's vase last week as someone stole the one from his Bronze Marker and left a nice hole in the center where they ripped it out at his grave site. That really made me sick..seems as though this has been going on for quite a while at all the cemeteries in this area.

I hope by now things are settling down for you and hoping youre Mom is feeling a bit better too.

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts Patty. Try to find a little time for yourself and be able to enjoy Christmas with your family.

Hugs and Love- Joann
