Subject: Rant!!! I HATE SNOW!!! :(

Wanna know why I hate snow so much? Because it decides to dump a TON of snow on us starting yesterday and MAINLY because it is keeping me from attending my niece's wedding today after I have been working on so much stuff for it for the last 3 months!!!

I am so sad and disappointed that I can't go. I so wanted to be there. We tried going yesterday and were going to spend the night, but the roads got worse and worse the further we got, so we turned around and came home. Took us 2 hours that under normal conditions would have only taken about 45 min round trip. It snowed heavily most of the evening and then started again about 2AM and it's still snowing (12:45PM). We are to get another 3-5" and then ice/sleet tonight!!! Good grief, Oklahoma!!! However, I did see on the weather report last night that next Saturday's high is to be 63*!!! What a difference a week makes!!!

Just heard from my older brother and sister-in-law, who were trying to drive over this morning. They were averaging only 40MPH and it was getting worse the further they went and it was very slick they said. They decided to turn around and come home, too. My younger brother took my parents in his 4WD and made it this morning, but even HE said it was bad on the roads and was getting worse.

A TV station showed a new car hauler semi turned over heading out of Tulsa to the west, dumping almost all the cars in the median on the route both my brothers would have taken.

My sister sent me some pics that had been taken last night when they were setting up the reception area.

While I am VERY sad and disappointed in not being able to go to her wedding, I know this is the best place for me and my family to be.

Oh Patty, how disappointing for you to have miss the wedding after ALL of the work you put into this for your niece. I think winter is "not" a good time of year for a wedding and that is probably why a lot of people get married in June or one of the other summer months into early fall. You did the right thing turning around and going back home. Your life is most important. Those roads are just too dangerous. I hate winter too which is why I moved out of the north. Stay in and stay safe.

Patty,
I'm so sorry you missed Karen's Wedding due to this nasty weather. Hoping they had someone with a video camera and can send you the ceremony and reception festivities.

I'm sure Karen's Wedding was Beautiful .. but disappointing for all those who could not attend because of the weather. It's better by far that you turned around and came back home..rather be safe than sorry.

I'm sure all you hard work was much appreciated and made Karen's day all more "Special" because of her Aunt Patty.

That nasty weather you've just written is headed our way here in Delaware tomorrow morning.

You Take Care...Hugs~ Joann

Well I sure know how you feel. The day my DD got married there was a sheet of ice on the ground. We got to the church driving very slow but a lot of out of towners did not and I don't blame them as the roads were horrible. We had to go 15 slow miles to get to the church. So I don't blame you for going back but having a wedding in the winter is a gamble.
Linda

Thank you, Ladies, for reading my rant!!! I was just so upset, sad and disappointed that I had to miss it after all that had been done for it. I agree 100% with you about winter not being a good time for a wedding because of the unpredictable weather, especially around here. She really wanted my Dad to walk her down the aisle, but with his cancer didn't know how long it will be before he wouldn't be able to, so she decided on Feb 28th while he's still in fairly good shape and can get around. Her real father passed away a week before she graduated high school and her step-father has dementia and is in a nursing home. They were expecting about 100+ people, but because of the weather, there was only 30, maybe. Her new husband has relatives from Canada who came down, so postponing wasn't an option. I know we did the right thing by coming home, but still was sad about missing it. We tried to go, but the weather just kept getting worse and we were about to face many steep, winding hills and many lake bridges. Not where you should be on bad roads! There comes a time when enough is enough and you just have to make the best and safest decision for your family, so that's what we did. You gotta do what you gotta do!
Thanks again, Ladies! OK, back to crafting business now! LOL!!!
Patty
