Hi Linda!
When I went shopping for appliances what I found is that prices really don't change that much when you go to their top brands.

Then I just went for the size that I needed for the space that I had and read what other people had to say.

I was uncomfortable buying a front loader for the fear of having it leak around the door.
So far so good!
As for the odour - I heard of that too.
Top loaders have that switch that keeps the door propped up.

What I do with mine = is after the washer is finished for the day - I wipe the door down and let it dry out.
When all the laundry is done, I close the washer door until next washing day. It usually takes me five days to get enough white laundry to do a load. :)

Also some washers will tell you when the washer needs to be cleaned inside. I guess it gets rid of extra lint and soap residue.
I don't have a problem with odour, but I can see the bending being a concern ten years down the road.

I think now a days there is an appliance for everyone.

Fridges are another thing - good grief - who needs to know what your fridge is doing from work!
I will wait until they make a fridge that comes with a coffee maker built in and it's voice activated.
