Subject: Momma passed away this evening ...

... they had amputated her 'good' right foot (gangrenous toes - diabetes) a couple of weeks ago and she got through that okay and had even moved up on out of the CCU back up to a private room very late last Tuesday night and things were looking as good as could be expected (zero renal function and daily dialysis, and we had a good long conversation ca 9-12pm and they had even had her sitting up in a chair for a couple of hours that day), but then my brother found her there early the next morning unresponsive (tracheal collapse and sky-high potassium and BP, again the diabetes). she rallied back from that back in CCU and was alert and they took out the breathing tube around Friday but she was adamant that they not put that thing back in. Albuterol treatments had made it to where she was breathing alright on her own but too many other things were breaking down (and had been for some time) and she had little to no healing factor left to overcome them. there were a couple of times this week where i left there feeling bad that she had to keep on and tonight she found peace. she certainly stayed there at home as long as she could and we all got to be with her these last days.
