Subject: I always suspected I was dyslexic

I will be 50 this year and always knew something wasn't quite right with me as far as my reading and writing. In early gradeschool I was given a special test because I could not get my letters right bd and 5's. I transposed a lot and still do and couldn't read byond about the third grade level till I was about 20. Thank God for racy books.

I remember being asked to draw loops and some other stuff. My brother is intelecually challanged and so I figured they thought I was too. As soon as I told my mom about the test she freaked and nothing was ever said about it after that.

Nothing was ever done either. I hurts me to realize my parents were more interested in hiding this disability than they were in helping me learn to read. It's amazing what Shame can do to people.

I can't sepell my way out of a box and even when I know how to spell a word..... I don't see transposissions when I make them. That is always fun in a public situation.

I looked into getting tested for this so I would have an official diagnosis but it cost so stinking much, and when reading the symptoms I realized there is no doubt in my mind I am dyslexic.

In the end.... It feels good to have a reason I just can't get it right. It feels good to know I am not stupid and know that no matter how hard I try... I will always have some mistakes that I can't controle, and it's not because I am lazy and it's not my fault.

In one sence it sucks to have this but it is a releif to know WHY I am the way I am.

I hope you all have a great day.
Dee

I completely understand where you are coming from. I was tested for years in public schools, and the tests told me next to nothing practical, for example, how do I overcome dyslexia?

Finally at age 27 I had a real Ph. D. conduct tests over two days and found the problem. The dyslexic brain work’s differently than general education students' minds. The fallowing webpage illustrates this concept:

http://dyslexia.yale.edu/Policy_ADA.html

I focus on organization skills, using graduate school level content, which allows the dyslexic brain to generally self-learn spelling and grammar, without much direct instruction in the subject.

I created http://www.dyslexiaconsultants.com/ to provide the best general information on dyslexia online. In order to support the website I am starting an online tutoring business for highly motivated dyslexic high school and college students, using an innovative new approach based on the latest research in neural science, which was presented at the International Dyslexia Association, New York City Branch, in 2006.

In order to get a better idea about the capability of the online tutoring service I am offering, please visit www.TutorFi.com/demo and take a minute to view the video.

Please give me your feedback regarding the video and if you know any motivated dyslexic high school or college student’s that could use my special assistance, please visit me at http://www.tutorfi.com/manhattan-tutor and fill out the form on the right side of the webpage, below my picture.

I would appreciate you visiting me at http://www.dyslexiaconsultants.com/.
