my experiences have been as usual and as unusual as this condition called dyslexia. Could not read aloud estecially when put on the spot....bad bad school system!!!
Can not tell how many like numbers (1111) are in a group with out acutally placing an item on them to count. driving and reading road signs quickly... no way! reading to myself is fine..to a point. However directions and understanding the written text is no proublem. I do not see what is actually there sometimes. I say...just how did i miss that?? I have had to learn "tricks" to function in jobs that i was not really suited for...like accounting. yes i have had to hold down two accounting positions. did great except for my speed..i can not type fast or look from page to screen and keep my place...I just get lost and have to regroup.

Welcome to my life. I am 58 years old AND functioning with pseudo dyslexia, as I would put it since getting screeds for professional reports.

Well, some harsh people may say that I an not function that well, if they put time and "results", not quality first.

Check out my conversation with Sarah. May be you have a different view to add to our "Public Sphere".

I'm not sure if you are as angry and bitter as you sound. All I can say is we all deal with the hand we are given and must do the best we can. I feel that my dyslexia as hindered me in many however it has molded my personality and given me the ability to be understanding of others.

My comment was meant in humour. I do have trouble with my dictation program -- may be more than I realise. I really thought you might help or have a good suggestion for Sarah. I think it is a shame when we misunderstand each other. The rest of the world is way different again and that makes it harder for them to see our view of the world.

There were a few gliches in my last 'effort'. I must have been tired. I guess that's when I miss more errors. I'll keep trying to contribute, but life gets busy and we have to priorise other things.
