In reply to: Mandi 's message, "Horse Info" on 14:11:00 12/30/01 Sun

Hi Mandi,
There are actually 7 different horses named Saoud. The one you are talking about is correct, and you have done your homework well.
The one on my website was in England. He is in the AHSB Stud Book #3, Page 70. Those are really neat little books that I got off eBay to add to my library of reference materials. He is by Nimr, out of Safarjal. The horse you mention is listed as Desert Bred in the AHRA information. I have that Stud Book too :) Both stallions were bay. This is how things get so confusing, because often more than 1 horse existed back then with the same name.
Another good example is El Hilal. The one we know was foaled in 1966, and the other was a 1970 horse... 1 was gray, the other bay. Correction... there have been 5 El Hilals...all in different stud books.
Be careful in getting all your information online, without having books and magazines to back up what you see. It is difficult to find them using the books at times, and much more confusing online.
Thank you for all this good information :) You are making me check and recheck myself and that is a good thing!
Julia

Julia,

The reason that I mentioned the picture of Saoud is that on Rasasah's pedigree if you click on Saoud it takes you to the pedigree and picture of the other Saoud when she actually by the desert bred Saoud.
I have a rather extensive magazine collection and the Arabian Horse CD from the Registry. That has been where I have gotten the majority of the information that I have. If there are errors then it is either from me when I typed it in, or the error was originally in the article that I got my information from. So sorry if the information is off in the stuff I send you.
Mandi
