Julia,

My mares loves jumping like that. My 6 year old can't get enough of it, though I have to make sure that the jumps change frequently otherwise she decides it's more fun to find ways around the jump than to go over it!!! I just work the 26 year old over cavelletis instead of over jumps as she has had some serious leg problems in the past. It helps to keep things interesting for them instead of just going around in a circle. Makes them have to pay attention! It's also a great way to help build muscle.
I eventually want to train my mare for dressage, if I can ever find the time to ride her on a regular basis. Her grandsire was a really good dressage horse. He competed at the Grand Prix levels with his owner Gina Manion. Since she enjoys jumping so much I might have to add jumping to the list of things that I will eventually do with her.
You are right that we just have to breed the best horses that we can. I hope more people find that the Arabs are every bit as capable, if not more so, of competing in competitions against other breeds, including dressage and jumping. Their small size has never stopped them before!
Mandi
