 I'm interested to hear some ideas on how the idea of advatnage is applied.

It would be great to hear from players and refs who don't usually contribute to postings (but do read and visit this forum page!)

The way I try to apply advantage is:
1.see a foul or infringement (/infraction...?)
2.hold off on whistle blow if fouled team maintains possesion
3.
*IS playing advantage MORE OF AN ADVANTAGE than awarding the fouled player the restart?????
4.IF 3 not true, blow whistle

This is just a basic idea of how I try to apply this concept. I think its really important to consider
fairplay, safety, spectacle and to ensure that the offending team does not benefit from a breach of the rules.

Often, I have seen refs play advantage and then the fouled player loses the ball. It may be the player loses the ball through their own lack of skill, but I think it is clear that the ref must be 100% sure a similar result would have occured had the restart been awarded to the fouled player.
Otherwise, can it really be an advantage?
