Desde que este forum e sobre miss portugal e miss angola , a pagina tem que ser actualizada. Desde 2008 Angola foi quinta em miss world, semifinalista top 20 em miss queen international 2008 e olivia ortiz, miss supranational portugal 2010 foi miss tw steel 20009 e semifinalista no miss supranational 2010. Portugal teve uma 5 runner up no miss teen globe 2010!!!! Actualmente portugal esta a participar no miss tourism international candidata maria da luz santos.

O Reality Show Um Sonho de Mulher - Miss Portugal 2004
O publico vao poder assitir as candidatas, diariamente pelas camaras de televisao, passando por varios treinos de miss. Afinal de cada semana o juri ira nomeiar as 3 candidatas que tiveram o pior desempenho durante essa semana. Calha depois o publico a decidir qual das 3 a salvar.
Isto continuará, cada semana duas eliminadas, até restar só nove candidatas, aí será a grande final, onde o juri e o publico em conjunto escolherao a nova Miss Portugal 2004.

Welcome to the Queen of the Year 2004. About 61 lovely delegates around the world who finished as runners-up, finalists, and semi-finalists respectively will vie for the title of Queen of the year from the big 4 pageants of the world (Universe, World, International, and Earth). How the pageant runs:
First, we are going to announce the top 20, then top 10, and last will be the announcement of winners.
How to judge:
You give score for each delegate from 7.5-10.00. The lowest score would be 7.5 and the highest score is 10.00. For example: Australia Universe 9.25 World 8.14 Brazil Earth 8.36 Colombia International 7.98.
How to determine the top 20:
The top 20 delegates who gained the highest scores will be in top 20. If 2-3 delegates with the same country entered into the top 20 the highest 1 will be in, and the other 2 will be out. A reminder to all those who have asked :
Miss Portugal World 45 will be held in various areas of Portugal between August 29th and September 4th. One day will be allocated for Culture, Tourism, Talent, and Beauty, and 2 days will be allocated for the Educational segment. Miss Portugal World 45 will be elected on September 4th, 2004 and will represent Portugal at Miss World 2004 in Sanya, China.
Our social causes for 2003/2004 are to support the Police and Firefighters of Portugal and we are currently evaluating causes for our 2004/2005 campaign.

Steps to Success :
The first presentation of Miss Portugal World Candidates will be at the Club Karma in Rio Maior on Friday, May 21st, 2004. The show will begin at 21:30.
This event will be recorded by the Miss Portugal World Organisation and made available on VHS or DVD a short period after the show. For more information please contact us.
This year they are being selected in a different way. But the 15 finalists were not announced yet. The winner will be announced on May 28th.
Due to that is believable that this year´s winner will not compete in Miss Universe in Equador.
PS: To understand the site you should know portuguese. But I can tell you something, is not a very flattering or incentivating site because they don´t threat well the girls...

Well, the invitation is definitely open for you to ask any advise on grooming needs, I shall definitely give you advise in whatever aspect is needed, or for that matter, any products that might help. It has been really interesting getting your perspective, however, we North Americans have an incredibly large Lusitanian community (the largest community of Portuguese from the Azores, and the second largest Brazilian community outside of Brazil) in Toronto, more specifically. So our perspective of Portugal is primarily Azorean. (Just testing myself here, but there are rolling golf pars, and Estoril-for formula racing, and more noteably Port wines). Alternatively, you are correct-you have a very long and hard path to carve and to set forth your goal,for it can be done; just keep at it. You are indeed welcome to ask us to help as best we can do with our resources available. Tell us and we will definitely see what we can do. Perhaps we could meet in Portugal, who knows?

You are so very right on your objective, as the Miss Universe contest really doesn't allow individual contestants to raise awareness on her own platform, unless she is being interviewed, and makes the top 10 or 15; consider for your understanding that on the other side of the Atlantic, North American viewers don't have the chance to see contests like Miss World, or for that matter Miss Reiña del Café (unless by videocassette), so our only access to Portugal is either satelite or Miss Universe for that matter. After all, it was Marisa FERREIRA, Miss Portugal 1999, who gave to viewers her well deserved nomination for the Miss Congeniality award in Trinidad/Tobago. Even if the Miss Portugal organization chooses only to send a delegate to Miss World,and/or a host of other pageants, that is fine, and very promising that she promotes a platform to increase awareness on Portugal and what it offers to the world at large. I would challenge you to do consider that north americans are familiar with a Miss Portugal due to a Miss Universe participation, and I must say that it was quite impressive that Marisa won that prize amoung her peers, and for many years afterwards (ie..Telma Santos in 2001). We shall continue to look out for her delegates, and hope that she can equally shine just as well as other Miss Portugals'-World or otherwise.

it has been very noticed the absence from portugal in the world of beauty pageants.to some people that have connections to portugal the answer is very simple:they just didn´t do any beauty competiton this last two years.
the last miss portugal universe pageant was held in november 2001 being elected Iva Lamarão.the last miss portugal world was held in june 2001 (if i´m not mistaken)being elected Cláudia Borges.the delegate to go represent portugal in the miss international pageant is elected in the miss portugal pageant.she is the delegate that places in 2ºrunner,wich means that she is the second runner-up.
well,neither in 2002 or 2003 were held any beauty pageant in portugal so to 2004 there are still no delegates to send.
to resume:Iva Lamarão and Cláudia Borges are still the reigning beauty queens in Portugal.
I hope that the responsibles for this message board can give us an answer about this and I hope to have helped with information.

About what´s been said about Miss Portugal I would like to say this:
1) Everyone is right when they say that no one notice them!
2) Over the years they have been totally ignored by the Miss Universe juri!
3) Now, just because they don´t show up in 2003, you should be speaking bad about them.
4) May I remember that one of the reasons is the lack of money? You should respect other people...
5) Last year, Portugal pageant had a delegate to send to Miss International. Her name was Susana Lourenço and she was Iva Lamarão first runner-up. She never showed up...
Now, to talk about Miss Portugal delegates:
6) The Miss Portugal 1990, Carla Caldeira, was stunning according to the portuguese press at that time. When you go to the net, you see with amazement that she never went to the Miss Universe pageant.
7) Miss Portugal 1991, Marisa Cruz, was, by far, one of the most beautiful delegates in Miss Universe. No one noticed???????? No... no one even cared! It was a huge dissapointement to all the portuguese who were seeing the Universe pageant live.
8) Miss Portugal 1992 was the same type of beauty as Marisa(blonde with blue eyes) but with all of the world in much more beauty! Portugal again was full of hope and seeing the other delegates we thought that the Miss Universe crown was ours! There was no way possible that the portuguese beauty, Assunção Calidade, would come back without the crown. So we were all sited there in front of the TV and she barely showed up.
9) Miss Portugal 1994, Adriana Iria, became the biggest surprise in the Miss Portugal pageant and conquered all our hearts! She was the subject in Portugal for almost the year of her reigning. She wasn´t noticed either. She was also one, if not the most beautiful delegate!
10) Miss Portugal 1984 (I was still too young so I don´t remember) but everyone says she is still the most beautiful Miss Portugal of all times, and will always be...
11) Miss Portugal 1997, Icília Berenguel, was a new hope. She wasn´t the most beautiful Miss Portugal but she had it. Then, she showed up in newspapers and she was starting to be a hit. Once again the portuguese hopes were frustrated!
12) Miss Portugal 1999, Licinia Macedo, who has a stunning official photo in the official site and was compared here to Natasha Kinski, was a huge commented by her beauty. During the national pageant there was no mistake: she was the favourite from the beggining and she won. The international press at the time of Miss Universe gave her some credits and when her name was heard in Portugal (that she was being a big success at the Miss Universe) we were delighted and finally dreamt to see the Miss Portugal dash among the finalists... Nothing happened. We heard that her gown had been awfully critizeised by the juri. In resume: Licinia was great, had done well, was a stunning beauty but they had to "take her down" because they didn´t liked the gown...
And finally, ladies and gentleman:
13) Miss Portugal 2001, the eternal worldwide famous Telma Santos! She won here having the two most beautiful runner-ups of all times,she conquered the audience here during the pageant, thought she was one of the favourites, she amazed everything when she went to Miss Universe, everybody talked of her all the time! She won prizes, she was in all sites as a favourite, she was commented to be Miss Photogenic, we could only hear complements about her. She was the lovely Miss Telma, the stunning Miss Telma, the biggest surprise of the pageant, she was the one to beat, she had the attention of everyone and everything all the time, she had everything to go on stage and win, she was even the puerto ricans favourite... she was voted from the start, by the juri, as the most beautiful delegate of all... And the same happened! She didn´t passed to the semi-finals (at least!!!!) Her gown was again the motive. A member of the juri said in the final rewieus that Telma only hadn´t 9.999 in her overall because the gown was a bad choice and it didn´t look good on her!
First they say she is a super model and now they say this!
Portuguese lost again the hopes and I think that if we didn´t won with Telma we will never win... No other can do what Telma did.... I don´t know in wich place she qualified but i think she came in 11º (if it is for us portuguese people to be offended, we are offended!)
Just a word about national delegates:
14) delegate nº5 in Miss Portugal 1985 was here Miss Photogenic and should have won. She was so definetlly beautiful.
15) delegate in Miss Portugal 2002 and first runner-up to go to Miss International was classified in the net as having the best figure in the Miss Portugal pageant that year.
16) delegate nº2 in Miss Portugal 1995 won all the prizes and was called to the 5 finalists. She wasn´t even a runner-up.
17) Miss Portugal World 2001, Cláudia Borges, came in 11º in the Miss World pageant. I have seen her in person and no more comments are needed. She was a huge favourite but started to be desclassified little by little during the pageant. Even thought, she came in next!
18) delegate nº15 in Miss Portugal 2002, probably the most beautiful portuguese girl, and I´m not kidding!, was only a delegate. She didin´t made to the top 5. The winner was Iva Lamarão.
Well,nothing more to be said is there? Beautiful girls just turned down by a pageant that is suppose to evaluate beauty as is Miss Universe.

Congratulations for the Organization os the Miss Earth peagent - I'm enjoying to read and talk about it more than the MIss Universe. I really hope this peagent will be a great success and become one of the most traditional.
Well, talking about the beauties, for me, the top ten are (not in order, because is a quite competitive group).
VENEZUELA - They are always there and they are always gorgeous. Drive is sexy, tall, beautiful and well coached.
BRAZIL - The first Priscila's pictures were not good, I even thought she was not beautiful. Well, now I saw new pics of her and... She is the most beautiful "girl next door" I saw. Simple, fresh and elegant. Great bet for the crown. And... so convenient - she is graduating in Biology - great option for a peagent that takes care of our Earth!
AFGHANISTAN - Beauty peagents is not only about beauty, but success and achievments. Would someone imagine a Miss Afghanistan one year ago? She is already a remarkable success and she deserv to be there. Besides all, she is beautiful and elegant.
INDIA - Swetha has a exotic beauty, a great body and she is from India, what normally is enough.
PANAMA - Yessica... Goos things come in small packages! She is great, beutiful, always happy and deserv to be there, in a top 10 spot.
BOLIVIA - Claudia Azaeda for sure will mae the cut, like Muriel Cruz did some weeks ago in Miss International - I even think they are similar. She is one of the most beautiful faces and a great catwalk. Top 3 is not a far shot.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - After AMelia Vega, the eyes on the Dominican's candidates are different. this black girl have everything that Miss Earth organization is looking for.
I complete this list with Misses China, Philipinnes and Poland. Good luck for them!

I was searching the web on Miss Portugal and before now i never knew the there was ever a Miss Portugal. When I would wactch Miss Universe on T.V. I would never see her and i would get mad, me being portugese and all. And reading all yor messages I totaly agree with everyone. Seeing pictures of Miss Portugal pass and pressent they are very beutiful and wonder why they never won. Or even if they are in the pagent I never see them on T.V. And I watch every year to see if I see her but as always I never do. So they realy need to do something and get Miss Portugal in the runnig.I know she is not going to be in the pagent this year but I pray to God she will be in it next year, so us portugese people can have someone repeasenting us.And to show how beutiful the Portugse women are. This is my first time on a chat room such as this, and I was browsing around checking things out; I am a makeup artiste and stylist doing backstage coordination for dance companies and pageants, and I could not help to observe the comments (for sentimental reasons, of course) regarding the Miss Portugal delegates; I must say that being an avid pageant fan, whether televised internationally, nationally, or otherwise, the whole objective is to send the best prepared delegate; time is ultimately a factor-from the hair, the makeup, the styling, the national costume,the manner of expressing oneself, etc there is nothing to be sacrificed, perhaps at any cost, especially on an international level when representing your country; setting aside the sentimental reasons, I have seen the Portuguese delegates, and I must add that there are beautiful each in their own way; and it is just that, whether inside or out, their beauty is unique just as an other delegate, but it very one sided; consider for fact, that when delegates are posted on websites, we as the viewing audience see only ONE side, never the behaviours, the way of expressing themselves, their total physique, etc. Just because a delegate may have facial beauty, for which Ms. Queirós has expressed, may not be in the opinion of the judges an ideal candidate (i.e., Miss Aruba 2000, Miss Germany 2000, Miss Portugal 2001, amoung others-amoung whom were my choices during Miss Universe). However, look at Miss Spain, 1999, she was not amoung the prettiest, but she aced the pageant and did Spain proud with meriting 2nd runner up.
When the delegate comes across polished and confident, it shows, regardless if they have the bearest of essentials to compete par excellence with other international delegates. What I have had the opportunity to observe is that once a delegate is not prepared, then it comes across in their enthusiasme, determination to do their best, and their own personal look. Also, you must take into consideration how the national director's outlook on how to send their delegate will effect a possible position in a top ten election; just on a personal note some latin american delegates do prepare their respective delegates like American counterparts, but from a esthetic point of view, the makeup is oftentimes dated (from the 1980's), perhaps to increase the chances of being noticed; the minimal appearance comes across cleaner and refined than blackened eyes or dated hair (what I find on Miss Peru 2002 and Miss Brazil 2002).
What I have begun to notice in the Portuguese delegates especially from Telma Santos, Miss Portugal 2001, was that she had a very marketable and fashionable look, which for the most part the MUO (Miss Universe Organization) is apt to want to have simply because she will be the face of the universe; she was extremely beautiful, nice facial features, beautiful physique, etc. Since we,the viewing audience, donnot generally get to see the prelims it is hard to predict what the judges liked versus what they didnot like; I feel that she and Miss Portugal 2002 Iva Lamarao(good choice of evening gown and very clean hair) were the prettiest, and including, Miss Portugal 1995 were the most prepared.
You see, there are other factors to take into account than just the facial beauty alone.

I keep wondering why Angola has never made top ten in any of the pageants. Is it because of language and communication??? I am from Ghana, but first and foremost an African, and so I support all African women who compete, and I don't think Angola has got a fair deal yet. Their delegates are both beautiful and intelligent. As to Miss Ghana World being Africa's sexiest woman..... I'm not sure that is quite correct.

Ela chama-se Jessica Simons, de 19 anos. A Jessica foi a grande favorita do publico em Harare, Zimbabwe. Ela recebeu um premio de $100,000 (moeda local) e uma contrato com uma agencia de modelos em Londres, Reino Unido.

Lalita Apaiwong, a niece of an ex-Priminister of Thailand, is 21 y/o with 173 cm. and 52 kgs. Her stat. is 34-24.5-36. She was the first runner-up of Miss Thailand Universe 2002 and won Miss Photogenic Award. Now she is studying at Cypress College, CA., USA. She is good at speech and eagerly wish to coexist with Mother Earth. She is interested to various problems such as the destruction of nature, environmental pollution or the energy crisis; negation is not the only solution. She said to the press about her environment project that "We have to try to understand nature, to learn how to coexist with it and to meet people who have already succeeded in coexistence. ".
