Subject: Telemarketer Rant Incoming... Author: aileen [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 17:11:02 01/11/02 Fri for 5 days I have been geting to the phone just in time to hear it go *click* in my ear. This was only after two rings mind you! So I kept it right by me all day and sure enough there they were - the DREADED TELEMARKETER!! "HI!" "hello...?" "HI!" - just as cheerful.. still no pitch? "hello.. can I help you?" "can I speak to aileen? this is justin (pause) from the *mumble* order of police" was Justin supposed to ring a bell? Oh yes, Justin from last years barrage of charity phone calls???? "we arent giving to anymore charities this year" says I "ALREADY!?" incredulous... was I supposed to keep some money set aside for the *mumble* order of police?! NO ONE TOLD ME! *shocked look* of course its over the phone and that doesnt transmit well so I say : "We have decided to give to a collection of 10 children's charities through my husbands workplace. Take me off your list and dont call again!!" Wasnt that polite of me? my turn to *click* ok... breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. I feel much better now. I like to tell the ones who call with credit offers that I'm really glad for the call cuz I've maxed everything else out...:) I have to say I've never had the audacity to take a smoke break while they wait, but I've done that to a particularly long-winded friend before. She never even notices I've been gone.
