Subject: Great songs Casey didn't count down: Part 2, Flip sides

The following songs were big radio hits during the AT40 era, but for some reason, Billboard never listed the song on the Top 100 and the song never got played on AT40 during its chart run.

"We Will Rock You" flip side of "We are the Champions", Queen, 1977
Maybe it is a little tired now, but for years you couldn't go to a stadium without hearing this song. During it's day, this song was often played as the "prelude" to "We Are the Champions". However, AT40 always counted down the A-side, which is also popular at sporting events.

"Flamethrower" flip side of "Freeze Frame", J Giels Band, 1982
"Freeze Frame" was the follow up to the huge #1 hit "Centerfold". However, "Flamethrower" got it's share of airplay, was a club hit and even made the Black chart. Rather than release "Flamethrower" as a single in it's own right, the J Geils Band followed up with the lowcharting "Angel" and their career pretty much "flamed out".

"Into the Groove" flip side of "Angel", Madonna, 1985
In Madonna's biggest year, "Into the Groove" might have been her biggest hit. Although the song was all over the radio, it was only available as the flip side of the 12 inch version of "Angel". Perhaps the record label feared Madonna competing with herself, but she did it successfully only a couple months earlier with "Material Girl" and "Crazy for You".

Any other B-sides miss out on AT40 glory?
