I'm still here, but my outrage circuits are either overloaded or defective, I guess. I'm just about burnt out on considering the meaning of it all, what the proper standard of moral behaviour should be, whether any angels at all can dance on the head of a pin, and whether anything can exist in the absence of an intellect to be aware of its existence.

When I first started indulging this vicious habit a few years ago, I had high hopes; surely there must be people out there who had given some serious consideration to the origins of the universe and could give me some insight, or why mankind has found it worthwhile to develop a sense of morality, and where it came from, or point out with some degree of reason why one philosophy was better than another. But I was somewhat disappointed. Discussions of economics became discussions of party politics, discussions of culture became discussions of party politics, discussions of politics became discussions of morality and religion, but discussions of religion became discussions of dogma.

A few bright lights have flickered here and there, but efforts at serious discussion become overlaid with a patina of personal grievances from people who cannot grasp the entire scope of the subject, and latch on to one particular facet and won't let go. People want instant answers, and one-liners are the best, even though one-liners seldom do a topic justice.

I find myself reposting answers to questions that arose months ago, or asking the same questions over again in the hope that I will, this time, get a coherent answer.

In other words, I'm in the "Been there, done that, got the T-shirt" doldrums. :)
