You know, I've tried to figure out how to exploit the situation because, after all, if something can be exploited for a few years, you're halway there. But, I've never had good business sense and I just can't figure a way/

If a person went to El Paso, they could try to get in on the flow od NAFTA, but it seems like the economics aren't local on this side of the border and there's no way an outsider can tie into the action south of the border. If Juarez is developing a middle class, seems pretty transparent right now!

I have felt like we just need to adjust our thinking, that closing down some industry always opens up others. But, right now I can't find the door -- at least not for the immediate future. If the repukes weren't in charge, there might be a chance for some sort of subsidy to those knocked out by globalization, but reality isn't that way.

I think tourism has a future and good food in a good location always works, but food requires certain skills and knowledge which are hard to achieve outside the industry. Finally, I'm left with the feeling that capital is key. If you have it, you can always make money. If you don't, you just don't.

I have a friend who took credit cards and started a business which buys and sells houses. He is doing quite well. I initially had some ethical issues with it because he sold houses to people he knew full well wouldn't keep the deal, but he told me he was giving them a chance nobody else would ever give them. I've come to agree with him. They want to own property, they believe in themselves, and he gives them a chance for not very much money, really. In some ways, the thing is almost riskless because the property practically always covers the debts. He used credit cards for capital, developed friends among the moneymongers, and I'm sure there is shady dealings on the finance side, but as long as nobody is hurt -- no foul.

Hope everyone is well! Reminds me of a BBQ place west of Texarkana. We always stopped there -- even planned our schedule to get there when it was open. They had good BBQ, good cobbler, and GOOD iced tea. That was all I needed and the money didn't matter too much. I still think about it.

Once, traveling the back roads and old roads west in Texas, we found another palce for BBQ, cobbler, Iced tea, AND biscuits! I still think about that!

Pecos cantalopes are still the best in the world and I don't think they even grow them there anymore. Fresh trout and cantalope makes the best breakfast there is! I still think about that. If you can tie into interstate traffic with good quality, then you'll have McDonald's secret and the traffic. people get tired of the factory food places, but they can't risk poor quality or sanitation.

Get a place, a good cook, and do whatever it takes to keep the cook!

Stay away from Houston! God might waste that primordal, sorry excuse for humanity place! I hope so!
