2017, Bonacquisti attended LSU and Hilliard is from BR. It's not that the southern LA contestants are at a disadvantage, but that there are typically fewer of them. Hilliard competed because she was recruited or chose to compete at Miss ULM. The university locals are some of the best recruiting tools MLO has IMO. 16 of the 29 contestants in 2019 have competed in a university local at some point, 8 as their first pageant. I believe it should be the best candidate for the win. It should not matter if the girl is from north or south Louisiana. Judges should never include any politician due to their bias of the area of Louisiana that they represented. But I don’t think that had ever been the case.
