Miss Louisiana, Holli Conway — I pretty much had her picked when she won her preliminary last summer. Wonderful talent, great interview. Total package for sure! She’s very fresh and real, trendy and modern. Couldn’t ask for any more or different from her and I’m excited about her year!

1st runner up, Emily Randon — Was honestly a little surprised she was in the final two. I would have had it falling differently. I think her talent has been stronger previously, though it’s obviously still solid. Her on stage question was not the strongest on final night which is what I thought would put her down to 2nd or 3rd runner up. But i did think her fitness was even more impressive this year than previously. I don’t think I like her hair so heavily highlighted. Will she return now with the new Miss America changes? She has one year left due to the age change.

2nd runner up, Anna Blake — pleasantly surprised by this one this year. She has never stood out to me or caught my eye and I never got the hype on her. She’s fallen in and out of the 10 over the years so I expected her in it this year but she really stepped up her talent and fitness. I prefer her hair down but i know why it was up with that gown. I just think the neck of that gown was too overpowering for her small facial features. I expect her back.

3rd runner up, Jo Hilliard — I’ve been a fan since her first ULM pageant and I spoke to many contestants and fans who wanted this for her this year. I was one of those. I was disappointed she fell so low and thought she deserved to be at the top for sure. I would love to see her run to USA because she’s easily the most facially beautiful contestant we’ve ever had. Her talent was stronger in finals than prelims and her swimsuit win was solid.

4th runner up, Waddell — loved this dark horse in prelims. Wasn’t as big of a fan in finals so I didn’t have her in my top 5. Once we heard her final question I knew she would fall as 4th runner up. Can’t wait to see her come back. She can do a more difficult talent piece, that’s obvious by her skills. She’s very fresh.

Top 10:

Courtney Hammons — much improved from her prelims this year. Was glad to see her step it up and get to the level we know she’s capable of performing at. I had her in the 5 over waddell, however I do want her to tone down some of the over exaggerations in facials (she had a very distracting opening pose in swimsuit both nights) and her hair is teased too much in a funny way. Her fitness and presentation overall has never been stronger. I predict she will win La Tech and be back.

Hannah Teutsch — also someone I had picked for that last spot of top 5 over Waddell. Very impressed with her this year, though I’ve always liked her. It was like she finally got the little bit of polish she needed to take that final leap into finals. She’s easily one of the best vocalists we’ve had in a long time. Will she return?

Kaitryana leinbach — she sure racked up ok recognition and awards/scholarships to not make the 5. I’m sure lots are scratching their heads and wanting to scream politics (which I don’t totally disagree with) but I’m also not totally shocked to not see her in the 5 or even with the talent win. She young (20?) and I’d guess that came across interview. Jo Emily and Holli are all 24-25. Anna is 22-23. Not sure about Jordan. This was her first Miss level pageant ever. Her talent is different and impressive but equally as entertaining are people like Holli, Emily, etc. It may almost take away from her points because she only has 1:30 to perform and she spends a lot of time having to wrap herself in the silks before showing a “trick.” I expected it to be much more Cirque De Soile (sp?) than it was honestly. She has major potential, much like laryssa after her first year in Louisiana.

Molly Humphries — she should have worn that black velvet gown in prelims. She was stunning in it. Her hair was styled better this year. Talent is always wonderful. She’s solid and precious though she tends to look a little dated. Keep freshening up and she could break in the 5. She has one more year I think.

Aly Jacobs — had her as a bubble contender for the 10 so wasn’t surprised. She looks adorable. I thought the ruffle sleeve on her jumpsuit was overpowering for her very petite frame. I also think a different song choice would suit her better. But excited to see her back.

Your comments about leinbach’s talent was spot on in terms of why she didn’t win talent, it is a discipline of strength and grace and not just acrobatic. I believe the judges also did not get the discipline and explains why she didn’t win a prelim. Honestly, this is the outside the box talent MAO needs to survive. Anyone can sing. Dance, talk, etc. all 4 prelim winners competed for years so an inexperienced panel either were led by one judge or they all decided to go with what they know. (NT)No name
