"Hawaii actually. My ma spent most of her life out there and wanted to go back when I was little. My uncle and his family's out here though and things just worked out to come back here." She had no idea how long they would be here or what would happen in the future, but she would be graduated in a couple years and so she could make up her own mind then. She had the connections that she could stay here or go back to Oahu if she wanted and still have somewhere to live.

  • "Hawaii huh? Nice..." He pursed his lips, thinking that over before he shrugged. "My Dad is from Miami origionally, my mom from Cleveland...nothing really to exciting..." He shrugged again. His parents places of birth might not be interesting but their life stories definitely were. He was pretty protective of his mom, he hated when people looked at her twice cuz of the scar on her neck. To him, it wasn't anything to be ashamed of - it was a sign, a symbol of how tough she was, what she had lived through - but he knew it made her feel awkward. It made his Uncle Jaden angry to see too, he knew that so his mom always wore a scarf or turtleneck or something whenever she knew he was going to see him, that had made him mad when he was younger, like his mom was hiding from who she really was but he understood better now...
