We are the only ones who feel it
Tonight we drink, tonight we dance with all the last ones who can hear it
We're calling in whispers, we're tired of waiting
We'll take what we want and leave, leave what we know behind

The sun was setting and the temperature was dropping rapidly, so she was on her way back up the beach from the water with a couple others. Her shoulder bumped Kalia's as they walked - having not had much of a chance to catch up since she moved back here, the two cousins were deep in conversation about school and being back here and whether or not she missed Hawaii and all that. A few steps ahead of them, Zeke was walking with his brothers-in-law - talking with Dylan who was charged with keeping an eye on the little monster Aaron. They were a mixture of a group - her with her dark hair and dark eyes and petite frame, and Kali and her brothers with their blonde hair and slender, taller frames, and the dark-skinned Zeke - but they obviously shared the close and comfortable relationships of family members who had grown up together. Her surf board under one arm - of course Zeke was carrying Kalia's - her wetsuit was still zipped up to provide some insulation until she reached her clothes and towels which were up by the rest of the growing group who were starting to show up for the casual bonfire and picnic gathering of the cousins. Only her and Kali had been out on the waves, but Aaron had wanted to watch and so Dylan had been dragged along down to the water and Zeke had followed just to supervise the two boys. She was in the middle of a thought to Kali when chaos broke out - being the brat that he was, Aaron had gathered a handful of wet sand, and swung around to fling it at his cousin Jocelyn. He was careful not to hit his sister though, because even at not quite five he knew the consequences of doing nasty things to his big sister. At Joce's shriek of disgust, the little blonde boy took off as fast as his little legs would carry him - cackling in delight. She knew that she was on her own in this one, so wasted no time in dropping - carefully - her surfboard and taking off after him down the beach. Dylan hung back to watch the excitement, but Kali lingered for only a moment before spotting Jake's car pull up and so grabbed Joce's board for her and continued on towards the group to meet her two best friends, laughing softly and shaking her head slowly. With Jocelyn being an only child, the boys and Kali had always been more like her siblings than cousins - so she had complete faith in Joce's ability to deal with Aaron as a sister would...

It didn't take her longer than a couple strides to catch up to Aaron, but she let him run on a little bit further before wrapping her arms around him and swinging him off his feet as she growled in playful fury. Her damp hair tied back into a high, somewhat messy ponytail, and her hair devoid of make-up because of the surfing, she was still striking - but more girl-next-door-pretty than fashionista-pretty. She tipped him upside down and held him with her arms wrapped around his legs, peering down at him and trying to scold him through laughter - but he was giggling so hysterically in that little-boy high-pitched laugh that she couldn't hardly help laughing as well. She knew that she wasn't quite making the point she wanted to, but she wasn't too worried about it. It was all in good fun...
