Subject: Sometimes I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear, and I can't help but ask myself how much I've let the fear take the wheel and steer..

(He had easily won the classes he entered that night, taking the regionals and earning a place at the nationals in just over a month. He couldn't say he was proud because he had known it would happen, and he hadn't quite gotten over the funk he had been in over leaving town with Karlie so messed up. And he had woken up a couple times during the weeks and wondered what Kelci was doing. It troubled him that he found himself thinking about her and he chalked it up to sexual frustration. He had put himself on a female sabbatical.. no sex for him.. it just brought heartache. Besides, he had better things to focus on, like his career. He had hardened himself, if that was at all possible, and as he stepped out of the car after the awards and at the afterparty on the strip, he declined offers from several women to pose with the car. Instead, he was the one that leaned on the fender, crossing his arms and staring at the camera, a look of cockiness and perhaps a little self-loathing on his handsome face. He had a bandage on his upper left arm, a new tattoo that had been added to commemorate his decision to become more serious in his career, it was the same tribal decal that was on the side of the car, of a cross and chains. He looked different than before, older maybe, matured a little, moody for sure.. he had decided that he would keep himself out of trouble by being his own posse.)
