She had been in the middle of a discussion in one of her tutorials when she had gotten the message, and within moments she had had her things packed and was out the door. Thankfully Austin had given her his truck for the day so she didn't have to call a cab or rely on public transit to get her to the hospital as soon as possible. Even still, as many speed limits as she had broken and as many amber lights as she had run, she hadn't been able to get there soon enough. Some quick questioning at the front desk of the emergency room had her directed up to the oncology ward - she took the stairs because the elevator was taking too long - but the moment she pushed through the firedoor that lead from the stairwell to the floor, she slowed down and just took a deep breath. Sometimes she left like she had spent so much of her childhood years in here - the quiet environment she had always found to be more unnerving than soothing, and the colorful trees and other scenery painted along the walls just reminded her all-to-well that there were kids here who would never leave. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she pulled her lilac peacoat tighter around her, despite that it was much warmer in there than outside and then shoved her fingers into the pockets of her jeans as she headed towards the familiar looking nurse behind the desk - but spotted Jas in the waiting area before she made it there...
